I got this for my father who, admittedly has only a few teeth left because he didn't go to a dentist until he was 30 when he finally got a job that had dental. They stopped making brush heads for his old OLD motorized brush and he hates my Waterpick because it's too strong. He used to have an old (again OLD) handheld flosser that he loved but it go so scuzzy that I made him throw it out. So here we are! Both things in one sleek package. He loves the black. He is used to the ancient oral B dual brush heads that they probably stopped making 10 years ago but he bought every head he could find before they did. So the sonic feel does feel weird and not good to him, but he'll get used to it. He likes that the water flosser is not as hard and "piercing" in his words as my waterpick (and I will give it to him that mine could probably pop your fillings out on high if you used it at that setting).
So no this is not the same as a waterpick, but for people who find those things too strong then this will work for you! He also liked the hand held aspect of the flosser because he is used to that. I like that it looks nice on the counter and there is a stand to put the toothbrush on because the one I have from a different company certainly doesn't have that. I think this is the perfect machine for someone who likes the hand held flosser and a pretty good toothbrush and to not have to chase around replacement heads for a while. But do buy some while you can just in case!
