This is a good high quality product. The machine worked to the aluminum is excellent. The finish is excellent. It's an anodized dark gray matte finish. All the parts just feel like good quality. The springs in the sliding parts are super strong. This product is worth every penny you spend on it. There's a good selection of base mounts for these phone holders. The only thing I wish they made was a suction cup for a windshield but for my application I needed a base I could screw into a board. The spring tension definitely holds my phone in place and that's without the lever lock being used.
Right out of the box the mount/base seemed very solid. Used this to mount a Power Vision on my bike and I'm confident this will hold up much better than the plastic mount its replacing.
The description fails to mention that the whole thing is metal and the ball tip is coated in a plastic material.
5.0 out of 5 starsGood mount for a Ram B ball mount coupler, and on a square plate that can be securely bolted down.

Well made aluminum plate mount with A Stainless Steel post and 1" Ram B style ball. This is a easy to mount as can be if you need something that will let you mount your device to a flat surface. That makes this a pretty versatile mount, and there are countless applications something like this. The ball itself is coated with a rubber like material, and the Ram connecting peices fit it perfectly. This works well, and even after a rough of road ride the mount hasn't budged a bit. This is a well made part, and worth it's price.
4.0 out of 5 starsWell built but with one little fault

This one inch ball mount base is nicely engineered with what appears to be a stainless steel threaded ball portion, coated in a 1-in round plastic ball. The base itself is significantly lighter. I drilled into it a bit on the back side and it is Aluminum.
The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was that I would have liked to seen two opposing flat faces on the stainless steel portion for me to get a wrench on to. I would have used this wrench to tighten the ball into the base. As it stands now, the ball tends to unscrew from the base. This is especially true since there are only two and a half to three full threads on the stud. I will probably use thread Locker on the threads so this doesn't happen.
