This is a fairly decent HDMI 2.1 ARC/eARC audio extractor that's well-constructed with a metal shell and for the most part works as expected without issues. As the name implies, it can extract audio signals from a HDMI input with ARC/eARC support which can then be fed into devices connected to either HDMI or optical (SPDIF/TOSLINK) cables at which point you can do anything as you wish for the audio signals.

If you are wondering the use case for this, well, there are quite a few but primarily I use this to split the audio signals out from a media player and feed it into a dedicate audio system instead of using the built-in speaker from the display which is usually of poorer quality (as is in my case). Of course, you can also do the same thing from your TV but NOT every TV/display has audio out and the complexity associated with multiple devices such as consoles and built-in TV apps such as Netflix, Disney+, and �鶹�� Prime makes things even worse. This particular audio extractor provides the solution and the ability to selectively separate the audio signals out without needing a display/TV capable of doing so on its own.

Another typical use case (for me anyway) is to extract and redirect the audio signals into a Bluetooth transmitter that I use to connect to BT headphones so I can enjoy the music without bothering anybody else. Unfortunately, this particular audio extractor doesn't have a built-in switch function that would allow me to switch between 2 input sources without having to manually plugging/unplugging them all the time. It can also be updated (theoretically) via USB-C but I have no idea whether updated firmware will be available or not; I guess we'll see.

Unlike previous models that are limited by their lack of supporting for Atmos 7.1ch, this one actually addresses that issue and it's fully supported which I'm grateful and exciting to see. In addition, it supports eARC which was (again) missing from previous models and that's perhaps one of the best NEW features for this device in my mind, and that absolutely opens the door for a variety of devices to be used and supported although compatibility might still be an issue since not all manufactures adhere to the specs in full.

Btw, some other HDMI audio extractors do support ARC; however, very few actually support eARC and 4K/120 at the same time, and this is one of them. Though, this would've been even better if it has 2 HDMI input ports along with a remote so I can switch between different inputs with ease.

All things considered, this is a fairly decent and one of the relatively few HDMI 2.1 audio extractors out there that supports Atmos 7.1 as well as eARC for both TV and the soundbar (or other audio output devices) and for the most part it works as expected without issues (i.e. some others have minor hiccups but not a deal breaker by any means); however, I'd still like to see a built-in HDMI switch coupled with a fully functional remote (i.e. to configure/setup everything using the remote instead of DIP switch/physical buttons on the device), and would've made this truly one of a kind.

As a whole, it performs fairly well for what it's claimed to do, and that's not something I often seen with these types of devices. Btw, remember to use high quality HDMI 2.1 CERTIFIED cables from reputable brands (cables with a shiny aluminum alloys shell is not the same as being a HDMI 2.1 certified or even a high quality one; its' the internal wiring especially SHIELDING that matter often matter the most) . It's somewhat reasonably priced at $79 for what it provides and its overall build quality, features, usability, versatility, and performance. Though, you can knock $10 or so off for an identical unit if you care to shop around.

I tested this HDMI 2.1 audio extractor in a home setup with a PS5 connected to a projector and an external sound system that doesn’t fully support eARC. I specifically needed a solution that wouldn’t compromise video performance while still allowing proper audio extraction, and that’s where this device really matters.

The biggest win here is that I didn’t notice any added latency or signal drop while gaming. That’s critical, because many audio extractors force you to downgrade video output, and this one didn’t. Picture quality remained sharp and stable, even during fast motion.

Setup was genuinely plug-and-play. I powered it via USB-C, connected HDMI 2.1 cables (short, as recommended), and everything was recognized immediately. CEC passthrough worked as expected, so I didn’t need an extra remote. Build-wise, it’s compact and lightweight but doesn’t feel flimsy. It runs cool during use and hasn’t required any resets or troubleshooting after initial setup. I appreciate that it stays invisible once installed, which is ideal for a living room or gaming setup.

This isn’t a product most people will need, but if you’re running modern consoles or high-end GPUs and your audio setup is the weak link, this solves a very specific and frustrating problem without introducing new ones. As long as you’re using proper HDMI 2.1 cables and understand your audio format limitations, it does exactly what it claims.

I could not get this item to work. The included instructions don't provide a lot of detail and I was unable to find any on the company website. A search for instructional videos also pulled up nothing. There is a possibility I have overlooked something in the installation, so there may be no issue with the box. However, there are no lights on the box to indicate if it is powered on.

We got this because we needed an audio extractor to pick up audio from our soundbar for our projector. It extracted uncompressed Dolby Atmos audio which is awesome, which seems to work even if your projector lacks an eARC port.

Stoked that it maintains 4k at 120Hz video with VRR and ALLM (so everything still works with our Xbox Series S.) If you do end up getting, just be sure to use a good HDMI 2.1 cables (under 10 feet if you can) and power with USB-C power.
