I’ve been on the hunt to solve my problem of having a newer Apple TV, an older 1080p TV that still works great but the Apple TV wouldn’t allow a signal to go out through the TVs optical audio out port to be able to use Optical Audio with my Bose TV Soundbar and this teeny box did the trick. The device works as described, and I haven't tested the optical output. My only concern is that the device doesn't pass through the "HDMI-CEC" (Consumer Electronics Control) signal, also known as "Anynet+" for Samsung. I have the HDMI Audio Extractor positioned between an Apple TV and a Samsung TV. Previously, when I powered on the Apple TV, the TV would turn on automatically through HDMI-CEC, but this functionality no longer works.
