- Reviewed in Canada on November 22, 2015Verified PurchaseThis book had a reasonably believable plot. Unfortunately, he spoiled it by the macabre killing of an SIS agent by one of her own in an iron lady of all things. This has not happened since the middle ages, if then. Deighton seems to delight in macabre executions as previously he had a women killed and decapitated on the orders of the SIS. Ridiculous!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Deighton's detail and panache carry his plot
Verified PurchaseI liked this book but I think the plot was a bit hard to accept at points. I very much enjoy Deighton's authorial voice for his nameless protagonist and this made it quite enjoyable for me. I find his writing style very appealing. But the plot of this particular story wasn't entirely convincing.
