    This was better than expected! The console is well-made and was easy to set up. Having the ability to insert ROM cartridges (I think they are ROMs, but they can be updated), and having the games instantly available is nice. The controller is of good quality and feels good in your hand. Also, the games I have for it (including the pack-in) are the original versions and not some port. So far, I'm enjoying my Retocade.

    The included instructions state that the Evercade Vs-R requires a 5V USB power supply of 1 Amp to 3 Amp (recommended 2 Amps).

    When I used a 5V 1A power block the screen kept going black and freezing. Switching to a 5V 1.55A fixed this problem and the Vs-R console worked 100% properly thereafter. Even so I am going to get a 2 Amp power block since this is recommended by the manufacturer for optimal function.

    The Evercade Vs-R is a stylish successor to the original Vs (which I also liked the look of) with it's black casing and large horizontal light on the front indicating that the console is starting up, ready etc.

    The bundled Tomb Raider 1 to 3 cartridge alone is worth £20 at the time of this review being written. Two cartridge slots mean potentially less cartridge swapping and 4 USB slots allow for up to 4 controllers to be connected where games support this.

    There is quite a lot of customisation available, such as CRT scan line effects, screen ratios, and a choice of borders where a game does not fill the screen.

    With arcade, home computer, and console games of 8 bit, 16 bit, and 32 bits available for the Evercade Vs-R (and other Evercade consoles in the range) this is a good way to enjoy classic games without worrying about decades old tech breaking down or as another option alongside original tech if preferred.

    Overall a nice little system with an ever expanding library of physical cartridges and hundreds of games to choose from.
