- Reviewed in Canada on September 18, 2016Verified PurchaseGood read to learn about essential oils, some of their properties and a few recipes. Wish it had more essential oils included in the property section but overall cannot complain about this as it is a beginner's guide. If you are thinking about getting into the amazing use of essential oil but have yet to learn about them, this is a good place to start. It is only 43 pages long and it is free so what have you got to lose? I would recommend it to any beginner, for more advanced essential oil users, it is still a good brush up on knowledge.

- Reviewed in Canada on December 27, 2016This book is written as though English is not the author's first language. It's unfortunate that a professional editor and copy editor were not employed. This may not bother others, but it bothered me. There is a section on recipes that is extremely vague so that it's close to useless. Where the author lists an essential oil, there are usually a recommended number of drops to use, but if mixing with a carrier liquid, very often, there is no quantity specified. Very sloppy attention to detail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for beginners with Essential Oils
Verified PurchaseI got this book for free from facebook essential oils group I'm in and I have to say it's also a great addition to my collection. It's easy to read and find the uses for the oils with ease. Even though this book was free I would have purchased it even if cost money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Four Stars
Verified PurchaseInformative. Since I am just getting started, I figured a beginner's guide would be just the thing to give me a little background information which I could follow up on in more detail later. I like the way it is broken down and the oils are listed alphabetically, however it is not all inclusive. It's easy to read and find the uses for the oils with ease. Modern era has again revived the popularity of essential oils with the renewal of aromatherapy. Gives some useful information.

3.0 out of 5 stars Grammatically challenged author gives a bit of info about some essential oils.
Verified PurchaseI got this book because I have been experimenting with essential oils to scent DIY lotions and have heard a lot about their natural healing qualities. Since I am just getting started, I figured a beginner's guide would be just the thing to give me a little background information which I could follow up on in more detail later.
The first thing that bugged me about this eBook is that it was full of grammatical errors. More than mere typos and misspellings, these were serious grammatical issues that were distracting, to say the least. I got the impression that either English is not the author's first language, or he is not very well educated. This made me question whether the information he was giving was valid or not.
The good part is this book is short. It consists of five brief chapters. The first explains what essential oils are/are not. The second one defines the terminology used to describe essential oils. Chapter three lists some oils and their benefits. Four lists some common uses for essential oils. And the final chapter tells you how to select and apply them for maximum effectiveness.
It is not a comprehensive guide by any stretch of the imagination, nor does it claim to be. It would be most suitable for someone who was curious about the subject and just wanted to whet his/her appetite. I, personally, would prefer something with a good index that would tell me what to use for this or that complaint/condition--kind of like some of the herb books I have.
