I bought this to digitize nine family photo albums. I’m using it with a MacBook Air. Software is easy to use. It’s a little clunky to be honest, but it seems to work well enough. I like the way the software can’t select individual photos and create separate files for each one in a scan. It would’ve been handy, if it had some kind of user controlled naming system, rather than having to rename every file. This thing chugged along for several hours a day for 3 months. It was a trooper.

Economical, Easy-to-Use Scanner for Home Office

My previous EPSON Scanner, "Perfection V30", finally gave up the ghost leaving me in a position to replace it with a new product. I was satisfied with the V30 so went back to EPSON for a replacement. I have had the "Perfection V19II" for a couple of weeks now and have found it to be much easier to use, a smaller unit overall, with plenty of features for a Home Office environment. The quality of the scans is excellent and are easily saved in a file of your choosing. I'm still adapting to the fact there is NO "On/Off Button" on the V19II; it starts & stops once the enclosed USB Cable is attached or detached from the unit. The software is intuitive and easy to follow & engage. Overall, I would rate the "V19II" a better product than the V30 in terms of size, ease-of-use and intuitiveness. The EPSON "Perfection V19II" is a great addition to any Home Office and ideal for the "Work-from-Home" individual.

First I must state that if you have not yet installed the drivers, the scanner will very likely not work so if you're having that problem where you can't get your system to recognize the scanner please make sure you install the correct drivers from the Epson website.

This scanner connects and is powered solely by a Micro USB cable. The scanner itself is 5 volts 0.5 Amps (500mA), so it should work with any computer featuring at least a USB 2.0 port. USB 1.0 only outputs 0.1 Amps (100mA), so they will not work with USB 1.0 ports.

USB 3.0, 3.1 and USB-C typically provide 0.9Amps 900mA, so they will have ample power to supply the scanner. A higher amp rating will not harm your electronics, and all USB ports are 5 volts so you don't need to worry about over voltage.

This scanner is lightweight and could be viewed as portable given that it only uses a cable and does not need to carry around any bulky power supplies or additional cables. It's slim and easily fits in a laptop bag or backpack making it handy when wanting to copy materials at a library! Of course you could just use adobe's scanner app on your mobile device to do similar, but I find that can be tricky sometimes with certain lighting situations.

This is a great value for its price but lacks some of the features you'll find on the more expensive models.

The hinges on the scanner only raise up about as high as my pinky finger is thick, so not great for scanning books. The scanner also lacks any accessories or features for scanning film negatives, so keep that in mind if that's something you're wanting to do.

Form factor was nice, image quality is decent. However, this scanner is extremely slow. It takes about 5 minutes to scan one photo, and about 4 and a half minutes of it is just spent with the scanner blinking and not moving or doing any scanning. Software issue or hardware issue, I don't know and don't care. This is completely unusable due to how incredibly slow it is. It would take almost an hour to scan a 10 page document. Also, the preview function doesn't even work in the Epson app, so you don't know if your five minute scan will even be usable.

Doesn't make any more noise then my older scanner, No problem. Scans quickly, not MINUTES like reviews stated? Photo quality is fine as well as printed statements. This scanner has a lot of pros. It's USB powered which is great. It's very light, so it's about as portable as a flatbed scanner can really be. It scans very fast. Image quality is good. The software was easy to install and simple to run. The quick buttons on the front of the scanner are very useful. Really, it's been great so far. The only minus I have seen is that when you put a paper up against the edge a tiny sliver will be cropped out. Even the instructions say so. Using the edge is a convenient way to line a paper up and so this is a small inconvenience if the image you are scanning goes all the way to the very edge of your sheet.
