I see a lot of reviews from folks who can’t get their replacement tapes to work, and I was among them, but once you re-align your machine to compensate for the different tape, these replacement rolls work just as well as the name brand ones do— Even better, actually, because their adhesive is a lot better! If after adjusting your machine’s alignment, you’re still having issues, take some tweezers and feed the tape through the machine using the space function, and you’ll likely find remnants of older rolls stuck and jammed into your machine, effectively embossing through double thickness and leaving you with junk labels you can’t read. There’s more care info on the DYMO website, but these are the two biggest issues I’ve heard, and would hate to see folks spending more money on name brand tape rolls when they don’t need to! Happy shopping!

I have a vintage DYMO 1967, still works and kicking, had to get replacement label tape since my parents old stock ran out and it does not work well at all. Letters keep getting stuck ,the mechanism can't seem to catch to push it forward. I just inherited some old DYMO vintage tape and I don't know how different the backing is because by touch it's not, and the old DYMO tape works perfectly on my 1967 just not the new replacements ones.. :(

Letters stack on top of each other. The embossing isn't super clear either even though I push harder than the previous DYMO tape.

This is on notebook covers that are flat, on clean slick glossy containers that are flat and clean. It just refuses to stay on and will eventually come off.
