I really didn't expect this jar opener to work as well as it does. It has worked on every size jar I have tried, it even worked on a bottle lid. Make sure if your jar has been in the fridge you let it completely dry off before trying to open as if it is wet it will just slide. Once dried, it works perfectly. This jar opener is amazing.

When nothing else works, this does. I have those rubber grippers. Sometimes I use one on the lid and one in the other hand on the jar or bottle. Sometimes the jar is too big to grip. Then I might try expanding the lid with hot water, but I hate wasting the amount of water it takes to get it running hot enough. I can bash the lid with the heavy end of a table knife, trying to get it to turn enough to break the seal. Sometimes none of it works,

I don't even bother with all that stuff anymore. As soon as I can't open something with the grippers, I go straight to this device. It always works. It is scary strong and the pop when a lid lets go can be startling. Use it anyway, because it works. Just don't let the kids play with it.

I'm 74 years old and I've lost a lot of arm and hand strength to open jars. I've tried 4 other different kinds of jar openers that are the manual kind. From the silicone kind, to one that looks like a paddle with a section with teeth, to one that fits over the lid and you need to screw the handle. All of these require hand and arm strength to open a jar.

I put in the batteries. Then got my tightest jar that absolutely no one in the family could open. It's a jar of hot fudge ice cream topping that had been used before and I guess the sticky topping sealed the jar shut. Several in my family tried to open it to no avail. I tried all my manual jar openers and also tried hot water. Nothing would open this jar.

I put the jar opener on top of this jar and pressed the button. The sides closed around the jar and the machine tried to open the lid. Unfortunately, after the first try, it slipped off the lid and it was still sealed shut. Repeated the process and after it strained for a few seconds, I heard a pop and the lid was opened!

So, if you need a much easier and dependable way to open those tight jars, this will make that job easy peasy! Get it!

I got this because I just had surgery on one hand and I’m about to have surgery on the other so I will not be able to open stuff like this for quite some time. So far so good but I’ve only had it for one night so far so we’ll see. I will say that it’s very very loud. It has a forward and backward so you can make it close or you can make it open. It’s grip, but it won’t re-close your jar for you. You can just make it grab or let go, but if you don’t, it will automatically do that itself so it will squeeze itself until it has a good grip on the jar and the jars lid then it will pop the lid open and once it’s got it popped open, it will then slowly return to it starting position and then turn itself off. If you hold down the button, the process goes much faster.

It just opened that pickle jar no problem, but in case you didn’t notice in the video, I forgot to mention that after it had a decent grip on the lid, it did continue itself automatically without me having to press down the button.

I have very weak hands due to a lifetime of not doing manual work. I used the Oxo jar opener for years, placing a jar on a silicone pad and turning a handle with metal ridges to grip the jar lid. It worked well. But my hands got weaker over time and I couldn't open jars with the Oxo anymore.
