It¡¯s almost two months past Christmas and my kiddo still plays with it daily, first thing each morning (and honestly, often the last thing at night as some projects work best in the dark!). A healthy appreciation for science and curiosity about how things work are needed for this gift (ex: my daughter isn¡¯t into science and can¡¯t see the appeal¡­ my son ADORES it). One month in, we printed off the extra projects from the website and he was DELIGHTED (he had completed the other 150 numerous times by that point). If your kid is interested in this sort of thing, this set is wonderful. The company is willing to replace broken parts (I think it¡¯s three per customer) and has been wonderful. The love of science expanded exponentially and he¡¯s experimenting with his own projects/circuits. He¡¯s requesting more snap circuits / ¡®stem¡¯ activities for upcoming birthday gifts now :)

    My four-year-old is thrilled with this toy! Due to his age, he initially needed parental supervision and guidance to build anything, but once we spent some time showing him how to interpret the diagrams (he does read as well, which helps greatly) he was able to build things on his own with little or no assistance. He now creates his own projects without the manual.

    The '300 projects' part is somewhat misleading, as so many of the projects are just variations on the same theme, but there is definitely enough to keep him busy for a long time to come. As he gets older, we hope that he will begin to understand more about the "how" of all these projects, but in the meantime, there is much fun to be had in making lights blink, alarms beep, and propellers fly!

    The company lives up to its promise to replace broken/missing parts for free. We have had to obtain three replacement parts, and we just filled out a web form and they showed up in the mail a couple of weeks later, no hassles and no questions.

    Highly recommend.

    The projects are well defined and follow a good progression in the manual. Overall, there should be more interesting results, more lights flashing, sound generating, motor speeds changing etc. The parts-placement graphing system is a great way to have kids start using 2 dimensional graphs. Colour coding for parts is excellent as are the parts descriptions. This is a very useful kit and it has help our grandson's interest well; gift was for his 6th birthday. His 4 year old brother is also fascinated by the projects and overall projects they can build.
