I read many of the reviews. I was concerned at first. I decided to test the performance. I placed 1 cup (250ml) of cold water in an insulated metal camping cup. No lid. I placed the heater in the water. After about 8 min, the water temperature was around 85deg C. This is enough for most applications, but wanted to see how long for boiling. At around the 10min mark, the water was around 98deg C. The water was boiling (rolling boil). The packaging rates this at 150 watts for 120 volts AC (north american power) I imagine places where they use 220/240V this the speed to heat and intensity will be dramatically increased ( europe, cuba, etc). This fits my use case of boiling water for oatmeal and coffee in hotel rooms. and it's tiny. I hope this lasts a long time.

I got this as recommended on a "get these things for a better cruise" list and it rocks when plugged into 220V. 3-4 min heating 16 oz water in a thermal cup. We used it a lot. I will come with us on 220V vacations.
It also works on 120V, but the electrics math forces you to wait 12-15 min to heat the same water.
