- Reviewed in Canada on March 20, 2025Verified PurchaseBook 2 of 8 in the Edge of Collapse series. (My second time reading the series)
This book follows Noah from the day of the EMP through the first week. Noah is a police officer in the small town of Fall Creek. When the EMP hit, Noah was with his 8 year old son Milo on their annual Christmas Eve ski trip, the one started by Hannah the year she left after a fight and didn’t come home. Noah meets his neighbour, 16 year old Quinn on the same ski hill, and it seems to be them against the world trying to get home. Their paths continue to cross through the week, to the point where she has become somewhat of a caregiver to Milo while Noah is working. And with chaos starting quickly because of panic and greed, it seems Noah is working all the time. There are those in the town who think they are “owed” because there always seem to be those people, and they cause the anarchy that ensues. The book ends after a major devastation to the town and the introduction of a militia group to help restore order. We all know that this won’t go over well, no matter how much assurances are given.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not as good as book 1
Verified PurchaseIt’s good to see the other side of the story and the story line is good but not as exciting as book 1 but leads into hopefully a good book 3 where they all intertwine.
