The proliferation of the USB-C standard means inevitably you're going to have a lot of type-C cables around, and some will be too short. This is especially common when it comes to USB-C docks, many of which give you at best an 8" cord. These adapters fully support the wattage and data transfer rate for USB4 and Thunderbolt connections, and perform as advertised (within the limits of my testing, which is just under 100W and the bandwidth for a 4k and 1080p monitor and peripherals). These adapters, right down to size, build materials, and colour, are very common from various brands, so it's worth your while to shop around. For $11 CAD at time of review for a pack of three, this is the best value I have found yet.

Do note that some USB-C connections, despite the fact that they're supposed to be indifferent to orientation, will care about matching sides of the connector depending on what they're connected to (USB-A to C adapters being a prime culprit). Thankfully these have a small LED to indicate a successful power connection to help troubleshoot that issue.

I have several USB C female to female couplers. I use them to extend a USB C cable when necessary.

The Eluteng is the best one I’ve seen. The case is aluminum instead of plastic. It’s got the power and speed printed right on it, which I believe is the new standard for USB4. No more guessing around.

Like all USB C couplers, plug orientation matters. It’s 50/50 whether you got it right. With my other couplers, there’s no way to tell until you try to use it. The Eluteng fixes this by lighting up an LED on each side of the coupler when you get it right. Again, no more guessing around.

I only have equipment to test up to 100W and 10Gbps. The Eluteng did not affect either power or speed.

It works perfectly.

The LED only lights up when the entire connection itself is already working (with a load of power/data transfer), therefore making it useless as you would know if data/power was being transfered.
The LED on the connector is supposed to light up when placed in the correct orientation to save some hassle, without a load on the connection, so that you can actually tell if it's oriented correctly, but it almost never does so. You still need to constantly rotate it around to try and gamble if it actually will work.

However, the speed and wattage are correct, and it is useful when you do get it to work. It just comes with many unfortunate downsides.

This means that I still constantly have to rotate it around, trying to see if it works. It somehow doesn't even consistently or reliably work in one orientation, meaning that if I disconnect my device, and later on go and try to connect it (without reorientating/modifying the connection in any way), there a very great chance it won't work anymore.

Sometimes the connector just doesn't work at all, no matter how many times I reorientate my cables or the connector, it just never works. It's extremely annoying and frustrating, and I very much do not recommend it at all.

This connector does the job. I've only used it for charging, and it doesn't change the charging time, so it's not losing any voltage. Unlike other products I've looked at, it doesn't matter which way you plug in the USB C cables on either end, it works great. There's also a led on both sides of the metal case so you know you have power. I'd buy this again.

I purchased these USB C couplers to include in my cable lit when I travel. Quite often I find I need a really long USB C cable if I want to keep my phone on the nightstand in my hotel room. I had carried some long USB C cables for this purpose, but would rather pack two shorter cables rather than one long one as I sometimes need to power an additional device such as a battery charger. These USB C couplers are just the answer to my need. I'm now able to pack shorter cables, so I can power more things if necessary and can still accommodate poorly placed outlets in my hotel room by having a longer cable.

I did not check the power drop across these but I was not able to detect any noticeable heat coming from them when I used them. It is possible that I was not pulling enough current to notice. Power losses from additional connections is always something to consider. With that said, it is possible that there will be some additional time required to charge a rapid charge item, but I did not notice any additional time difference when charging my phone and laptop.

These things are sensitive to how you arrange them. At first I thought they didn't work, but the hint is to turn it so that the Eluteng side faces you. Power should flow into the left side and out the right. If the light does not turn on, flip the cable on the input side (left) front to back. That will likely be enough, however if it doesn't experiment some before you give up.
