- Reviewed in Canada on November 14, 2024Verified PurchaseI absolutely love the non-traditional colours of these reusable plastic-tab dividers. I punched new holes to allow me to use them with my discbound planner (the ones that are pre punched for discbound planners are crazy expensive!) and I’m so glad that they’re sturdy enough I’ll be able to reuse them again next year. I printed labels which can be removed and read here’s thanks to the finish of the tabs. So glad I found these!

- Reviewed in Canada on December 5, 2023Verified PurchaseThis product is fine. It is well-made, and easy to use. But it is only good if it is in a binder with loose-leaf paper.
I needed them to divide the pages that were inserted in plastic sleeves. unfortunately, the tabs do not extend past the sleeves. They are not wide enough, so the tabs are not visible at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, Readable, Erasable, Reusable, Colorful, Inexpensive! What's Not to Love?
Verified PurchasePros of the Avery Write & Erase 5 Big-Tab Dividers:
* Extremely durable, sturdy, yet flexible plastic
* Semi-transparent: Enough to see-through if necessary but won't get confused with anything you've written on the actual body of the divider
* Big Tabs: Generous space on the tabs to write full titles or in larger text
* Writable, Erasable, Reusable: The Big Sell! You can write on the dividers with pencils (I used a mechanical pencil) or ballpoint pens and then erase that writing to reuse the dividers for another purpose later
* Comes in colors that match or compliment many other binder dividers, binder colors, and popular school/office products that are on the market right now
* Inexpensive - I bought them for $3.84 per package of 5 dividers
Cons:
* In some lighting, it is difficult to see what you have written on the purple divider, particularly when using pencil.
* If you don't use/like to use pencils or ballpoint pens that come with erasers (and are erasable), you won't be able to use the writable, erasable, reusable feature of these dividers.
* Ideally, you should know what size binder and paper you will be using with these dividers, as well as your preferences and purposes regarding look, and usage prior to buying.
I bought these Avery Write & Erase 5 Big-Tab Dividers in the Pastel Brights shades to specifically go in the Avery Two-Tone Durable View 3-Ring Binder, with 1-1/2 Inch Slant Rings, and I love them! From reviews I read prior to purchase, I knew others felt they were shorter horizontally (in width) than more common dividers but that didn't concern me as I planned to use them as topic category dividers between transparent color pocket dividers that were wider horizontally. I could still use them that way effectively, but now, they come first in my binder, dividing 8.5”x11” sheets of notebook paper and course handouts I want saved and organized. The transparent color pocket dividers come next, essentially beneath or behind the Write & Erase 5 Big-Tab Dividers, so I can see all the tabs clearly.
Try not to be deterred by reviews that say you can't write on these dividers. You can absolutely write on them with ballpoint pens and pencils. Those that say you cannot write on the dividers are using other kinds of writing pens like gel ink which would smear. Ballpoint pens are an old-school tradition, plus you need an erasable ballpoint pen that comes with the eraser. For that reason, I used a mechanical pencil but a regular, standard #2 pencil would work fine.
Additionally, 8.5"x11" notebook paper including the 3-hole punches will absolutely fit and be hidden fully behind these dividers. These dividers measure exactly 8.5"x11". It is true that many other dividers are wider, but it is false that these won't cover regularly sized notebook paper. Here are the caveats: First, if your notebook paper has a margin beyond 8.5"x11" for the 3 punch holes then the divider and potentially the divider tab may get hidden by the papers. Second, if your binder has round rings, is very large (2-3") and full of papers with 75+ sheets between each divider, it’s possible that papers might stick out beyond the edge of the divider, but probably not past the generous tab. You can avoid this by a) using 8.5"x11" notebook paper that includes the 3-hole punches and b) using a binder that has slant rings where the left part of the rings is round, and the right part of the rings looks almost vertical but is actually slanted at an angle. It keeps papers better stacked on top of one another. Avery sells slant-ring binders with almost every inch width of ring starting at 1" and they can be found at 鶹 or office supply stores.
Relating to size and fit, I like the size of these Avery Write & Erase 5 Big-Tab Dividers better than the two other sets that I bought with pockets that work with sheet protectors. The two other sets of dividers have tabs that stick out beyond my binder which is irksome, and I have concerns about the durability of those even though they were comparable in price per divider to the Avery Write & Erase ones and rated similarly.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with the Avery Write & Erase Big-Tab Dividers. If other buyers consider certain preferences beforehand (e.g., pockets, page protectors, writing instruments), perhaps hold off on buying the dividers until they have already purchased their supplementary materials (i.e., binder and paper), and measure what they've already got/bought, they will likely be happier with their purchase as well!
