Product Description

The original pocket synthesizer
Iconic gadgets don't come along every day. The Stylophone is a household name in the music world, known for its super-fun stylus design, compact design, and unique retro sound. Used by everyone from David Bowie to The White Stripes, its the perfect musical gizmo - once you pick it up, you wont want to put it back down
Easy to play
The Stylophone is played by tapping and sliding the connected stylus along the touch-sensitive metal surface. Each segment on the surface plays a different note, the same as different keys on a piano. But unlike the piano, its so simple to play that anyone can have a go - perfect for beginners!
Portable & battery-powered
The Stylophone didnt earn the nickname pocket synthesizer for nothing. At less than 12cm wide, itll fit right in your coat pocket, rucksack, or handbag. Better still, it runs on 3 x AA batteries, and features a built-in speaker and headphone socket - so you can play it everywhere you go.
Original analog sound
The latest Stylophone features the same quirky vintage analog sound as the original, first released in the 1960s. You can switch between 3 sound modes, and make the sound wobble with the vibrato switch - great for all kinds of classic synth and bass sounds.
Learn your favourite songs
You can tune the Stylophone using the tuning wheel on the back. Once its in tune, you can easily play along with your favourite songs.

- Compact battery-powered synthesizer
- Unique & simple stylus design
- Original analog synth & bass sounds - Choose from multiple sound modes
- Built-in speaker for playing on the go - Headphone socket for quiet practice
- Batteries required: 3 x AA (not included)

In July 1969, David Bowie created Space Oddity using the Stylophone, realising the potential of its unusual voice. Its space-age, buzzy sound suited the song perfectly.

(If you wanna compose music or if you want something more elaborate, you may want the gen x-1 instead!)
- Reviewed in Canada on December 16, 2023Verified PurchasePurchased for my 11-year-old, but he found it difficult to tune without any guidance. A manual or notes for songs would have been helpful. Despite the challenges, he recommends it as the learning experience was valuable in figuring things out on his own.

- Reviewed in Canada on January 5, 2013Verified PurchaseThis is the new 'incarnation' of the highly popular pocket organ which sold bucket-loads during the sixties and seventies. Produced by the original companyresurrected by the former inventor's sonit's a faithful reproduction. There are some obvious changes; the new model has a line input for your MP3 player (so you can play along to your favorite songs) and can be tuned to accommodate other instruments, but otherwise it looks and acts very much like its predecessor.
One thing I noticed straight away was that it doesn't feel quite as solid as an original Stylophone, but I imagine this is simply because they're using a different plastic to build it these days. It certainly doesn't feel like it's fragile or going to break though, that's definitely not what I'm saying.
It's predictably cheesy in sonic terms but that's what a Stylophone does, so I'm not complaining. However I do know (from experimenting with the original model decades ago) that if you put it through some serious gear it can sound huge. I remember feeding one into an old spring reverb unit and being wowed by the resulting sound. :-)
Keep it with you as you travel for those moments of musical inspiration or just to have a laugh with your friends as you sing karaoke. Either way this riff on a classic musical toy never fails to please and the price is unbeatable. Highly recommended.
