- Reviewed in Canada on October 15, 2021Verified PurchaseThe package arrived on time as expected. Installation is very straightforward and easy. This was for my elderly mother, and this particular make and model were recommended by the OT assistant of her care facility. I tried it out myself just to see how it works and I found the railings wobbly, and it made me feel unstable even though I have no balance issues. So far it seems to be working for my mom, so maybe the wobblyness of it is intentional. BTW the wobblyness has nothing to do with a level floor - the rails are moving out to the side a bit.

- Reviewed in Canada on March 24, 2025Verified PurchaseHad to return it, it was so unsteady. The whole reason I bought this was to be a sturdy frame. It easily had a 3” sway both sides once installed properly. We returned it and bought one that doesn’t have legs, but tucks under the toilet seat.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 28, 2017Verified PurchaseDepends on the toilet height. Found on a regular older low toilet, the arms could not be raised to proper level. A bit wobbly but it does the job, Shipped with the wrong assembly instruction book But easy to figure it out,

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful aid
Verified PurchaseThis is very helpful. It leaves the seat as it was versus raising it 5" with an insert that has arms. Stability is fine in terms of safety but there is some play due to the snap together legs. It will wiggle an inch or less right and left but provides plenty of safety. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. It just takes a little getting used to. Arms raise for removing items like trash cans when installed in in tight places. Got them for my disabled wife but I too (78 year old) find them helpful. Really like the way the seat is just as before installation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what i needed
Verified PurchaseHas helped a lot getting off and on the toilet. Even after my father passed and we no longer technically need it we still use it. I have gotten so use to it being there I think I would miss it if we took it off. The only problems we have had is two off the buttons for changing sizes have come off and left sharp little wires sticking out that we have just covered up with some tape. I guess I could glue them back on but I do not know where they have gone now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware - Drive RTL 12000 Grab Bar is listed 'Not' elgible for return
Verified PurchaseManufacture confirmed 30 Days eligible to return item yet 鶹 states that this is NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN | Buyer Beware | Hassle with 鶹 Customer Service
The legs adjust but the arm height can not be lowered at the rear, so leg adjustment is not helpful to lower the arms to use safely. Did not install or open the box since the height is not adjustable, so I started the return process. What a hassle!...

3.0 out of 5 stars It helped my wife's sister and brother
Verified PurchaseWe bought this frame for my wife's sister who was recovering from knee replacement surgery. She told us that it did help her. It's not meant to be solidly rigid like grab bars fastened to the wall, especially with sideways loads, but she found it worked well to provide her with that bit of extra support she needed in getting up and down. Kind of like a walker helps to stabilize a person. And because the support is on both sides of you and equally in line with your direction of motion, I think this tends to work better than a single grab bar mounted on the wall as in handicapped restroom stalls. The frame is supposed to be rated at 300 pounds weight capacity. While I can't vouch for the 300 pound maximum capacity, I can say that it should support most adults. If you have any doubts about load bearing, position a helper to assist a new user until they get comfortable with going on their own. I think most people, even those who are weight-endowed, will find they do OK once they get used to it.
The frame is attached to the toilet using the same bolts that hold the seat on and it was easy to attach - just unscrew the nuts on the seat bolts, lift the seat off, place the safety bar frame on the toilet and reattach the seat with the bolts passing through a bracket on the safety bar frame. All the hardware lined up fine and the bars themselves are height and width adjustable so unless you have a really weird shaped toilet you shouldn't have any problems.
Updated April 2018 - My wife's brother used this when he had knee replacement surgery and also found it to be a helpful aid for getting on and off the toilet. I had a chance to use it and I did notice the wobble in the supports that other reviewers have commented on. This might be a problem for people who are especially frail or who have noticeable balance problems. For most people, though, it should work OK if it's only being used for a bit of extra support as they recover from surgery such as joint replacement. I reduced my evaluation from 4 stars to 3 because I think the designers could have done a better job of making the supports less wobbly.
