The Dragon and the Stone (The Dream Keeper Saga Book 1): The Dream Keeper Saga
Audible Audiobook
– Unabridged

Even though she's only 12 years old, Lily McKinley already feels the weight of the world's brokenness. She's seen it in her mother's exhaustion, her grandmother's illness, and the cruelty of Adam, the bully at her school. But most tragically, she experienced it two months ago when her father died in a terrible accident.
As an artistic daydreamer, Lily has a brilliant imagination to help her cope, but that imagination often gets her into trouble. One day, it transports her to a fantasy world called the Somnium Realm, where her father's secret history embroils her in an epic quest. With the help of a dragon guide named Cedric, Lily battles evil shrouds, harpies, and other creatures to find her way through grief, rescue the world from evil, and discover the power of redemption.
This thrilling novel by Kathryn Butler mixes fantasy with Christian themes, taking middle school listeners on a quest through castles, forests, and caverns to help a young girl find hope and usher in restoration.

5.0 out of 5 stars Appeals to teens and adults alike
Verified PurchaseFantastic story line! My teenage granddaughter couldn't put it down and asked for the rest of the series! Clean, wholesome adventure and fantasy! Can draw lessons from the obstacles the main character overcomes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting and interesting series without any controversial content
Verified PurchaseMy children absolutely love this serious, and I love that I don’t need to be worried about mature content within it. While there is some action, it is age appropriate (tweens and young teens) and lends to an exciting story. We have now purchased the whole series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get the Whole Series!
Verified PurchaseI read my 10 and 6 year old the Wingfeather Saga, Narnia and Little House on the Prairie books and many others. I've never seen them be captivated by a series like this one. I'm a fan of reading the character voices like an audio book would and there are a lot of fun characters to get to voice when reading these books. The best part of all is how well Kathryn Butler weaves in Biblical narratives into the world she's created. My 10 year old loves saying, "That's just like when Jesus said,...." or "That's like how Peter did this in the Bible." It brings up so many great conversations about God's word without sacrificing an amazing unique story and world that Butler has created. If she writes 30 of these books I can't see any of them being dull or boring. Every chapter ends with a cliff hanger that leaves my kids wanting to hear more. I am very grateful for the roll these books are playing in my daughters' Christian walk. If you are not a Christian, the Biblical themes will not be very obvious to your children and they would still love these books as they are clean, have a female lead, and by book two start to have a diverse set of characters. We just started the third book and can't wait to buy the fourth book in March of 2024.
