    I love this game so much. I had it as a child; but when I let my cousin borrow my N64 + all its games for a few years, this was one of the two games that they had lost somehow.

    So a while back, I finally had the means (and motivation) to re-order it, after watching one too many Let's Plays. I was so scared to end up with a really scratched up cartridge or a really glitchy one; but thankfully, I had lucked out. :) (Thank you, seller!) I'm currently replaying it and enjoying reliving this wonderful nostalgia.

    1. Da es einige Leute gibt, die ihren Unmut bei einer Bestellung in einer PRODUKTREZENSION statt im Verkäufer-Feedback angeben, möchte ich da mal entgegenwirken. Es ist nicht richtig, dass durch diese Menschen die Bewertung ins Negative gerissen wird. Also Leute: wendet euch an den Verkäufer, wenn ihr Probleme bei einer Bestellung habt, nicht hier.

    2. Um Donkey Kong 64 (DK64) spielen zu können, benötigt ihr das "Expansion Pak" für das Nintendo 64. Dieses tauscht ihr dann einfach mit dem Jumper Pak aus - Tutorials gibt es im Internet zuhauf. Wer also davon keine Ahnung hat: Google hilft.

    So, nun zum Spiel!

    DK64 ist wohl das bekannteste Abenteuer neben Donkey Kong Country mit unserem Krawatten liebenden Primaten. Entwickelt von Rare (Banjo Kazooie), versprach es schon vor Release ein echter Meilenstein zu werden - und das wurde es auch.

    DK64 ist ein 3D- Jump 'n Run ähnlich wie Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario 64 etc.
    In der Rolle von 5 verschiedenen Kongs erkundet ihr relativ große Welten auf der Suche nach "Goldenen Bananen", die neue Welten öffnen bis hin zum finalen Boss. "Sammeln" wird hier übrigens groß geschrieben (auch wenn ich es jetzt nicht tat), denn neben goldenen Bananen sammelt ihr auch 100 kleine Bananen pro Kong (also 500 pro Level), Blaupausen, Münzen und mehr Zeugs. Ihr sammelt euch wirklich dämlich bei dem Spiel, und das bedeutet natürlich, dass ihr einige Welten öfter abklappern müsst, um wirklich alles zu finden.

    Grafik

    Dass das "Expansion Pak" gebraucht wird, sieht man vor allem an der grafischen Leistung des Spiels. Unterschiedliche Szenarien, viele Details und (für damalige Verhältnisse) sehr lebendige Charaktermodelle. Zugegeben, heutzutage ist die Grafik etwas altbacken, aber keinesfalls wird das Spiel dadurch unspielbar. DK64 sieht zu keinem Zeitpunkt trist aus und überzeigt auf grafischer Ebene - wenn man nicht zu verwöhnt ist.

    Sound

    Der Soundtrack ist genial und ändert sich passend des Szenarios im Level. Betretet ihr in einer Welt eine Höhle, so erklingt die Levelmusik in anderen Klängen und mystischer - gleiches gilt auch, wenn ihr taucht.
    Auch die Stimmen der Kongs sind einfach super witzig und passen wie die bekannte Faust auf's Auge.

    Und der "Donkey Kong Rap" ist sowieso legendär, keine Frage.

    Umfang

    Wenn ihr viel Zeit habt, ist DK64 genau das richtige, denn über 30 Stunden beim ersten Durchgang sind Standard. Wie gesagt, ihr seid permanent am Sammeln, Erkunden und Hüpfpassagen überleben. Natürlich zwingt euch das Spiel nicht, wirklich jeden Furz einzusammeln, wer aber einen 100%-Spielstand sein Eigen nennen will, sollte schon Zeit mitbringen. Zumal es sechs große Welten gibt sowie einige Sub-Level. Jede der Welten besitzt ein eigenes Setting, so verschlägt es euch durch Tropenwälder, Wüsten oder einem Spukschloss.

    Auch der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist passend, so beginnt dieser einsteigerfreundlich und mausert sich gegen Ende des Spiels als echter Brocken. Unfair wird das Spiel allerdings nie.

    Multiplayer

    Mit bis zu 4 Spielern lässt sich ein Arena-Kampf-Modus spielen, indem es darum geht, die anderen Spieler zu besiegen - entweder mit Schusswaffen oder Fäusten. Der Multiplayer macht schon Spaß, allerdings benötigt man etwas Eingewöhnung bei der Steuerung.

    Steuerung

    Jeder Knopf wird bei DK64 genutzt - manchmal in Kombination mit anderen Buttons. Das kann anfangs sehr verwirrend sein, nach einiger Zeit aber findet man sich zurecht und steuert seinen Primaten locker flockig durch die Welten. Einsteigerfreundlich ist die Steuerung aber nicht.

    Fazit

    DK64 ist ein Muss für jede N64-Sammlung und ein zeitloser Klassiker. Da uns leider bislang ein richtiges, neues 3D-Donkey Kong verwährt bleibt, ist DK64 ein super Spiel um in Nostalgie zu schwelgen, die Wartezeit zum nächsten großen DK-Spiel zu überbrücken oder um zu erfahren, warum Rare damals als "ungeschlagen" galt.

    Also, viel Spaß beim Sammeln!
