Worth a Try
There are so many rodent deterrents out there, including traps. Some may work, some may not work. I think it is up to you to try various deterrents to see what works since what works in one case may not work in another. Don't avoid this product because of its name: Rat Repellent. This product is made in Canada but what is striking is the fact that it is made in Edmonton, Alberta. It is somewhat ironic to have a rat repellent made in a province where there are no rats, since Alberta is rat-free. However, if you read the label, you will discover that this product is actually also used to control damage caused by skunks, dogs, cats, rabbits, racoons, beavers, mice, deer, squirrels, voles, porcupines and some types of birds. I think that where a lot of people may go wrong with this product is the idea that you spray on this product and it will deter the aforementioned critters. I think the key is in the wording "to control damage caused by". This implies that a rodent is probably gnawing or eating at something. If they don;'t get their mouth on it, they likely won't be deterred by this product. My problem is with voles and I am happy to see them on the list. Time will tell if the product works well but I think that a successful rodent repellent or deterrent program must involve more than one process to get rid of them. This Doctor Doom product comes in a 1 litre spray bottle. Shake well before using. This product can be applied on ornamental plants and flowers, bulbs, fences (do a small test area to see if paint might be damaged), etc. Do not use it on edible plants. It is good to know that this product will not kill plants or shrubs. The product penetrates the outer layer of plants and flowers. It is also nice that you don't have to keep spraying this repeatedly. You might need to do one re-application but the repellent remains intact and withstands outside elements. Annual re-application is, of course, recommended. Give it a try. I would recommend it but try other things and don't rely exclusively on one technique.

Padded paper package arrived ripped with nozzle of product sticking out and having leaked into and outside of the package. Got some of the product on my hands and can vouch for its bitterness. I returned it due to the state it arrived in so cannot speak to its effectiveness in repelling rodents.

While it certainly has a very bitter taste, I got a whiff of some when I got caught in a sudden breeze, while spraying. It has not slowed the Chipmunks down one iota from climbing the post or the board that the bird feeder is attached to. I have thoroughly soaked all four sides of the post and the board up top, that the bird feeder is sitting on, twice now. I had soaked everything and barely crossed the lawn, weather was dry and a Chipmunk climbed up almost behind me. So I would consider this a failure as Chipmunk deterrent.
