About Us

Legacy Recordings is an American record label that is a division of Sony Music. Formed in 1990 after Sony's acquisition of CBS Records, Legacy originally handled the archives of Sony Music-owned labels Columbia Records and Epic Records. In 2004, under the Sony BMG joint venture, the label began to manage the archives of RCA Records, J Records, Windham Hill Records, Arista, LaFace, Jive, and Buddah Records. Legacy Recordings also distributes Philadelphia International Records and the catalog of recordings produced by Phil Spector. It is not related to the defunct British independent label Legacy Records.

Finally, credit where credit is due...sort of. I'll get back to that. But 1st. I've owned this release on cassette and compact disc (with the exception of the awful re-recorded 2002 version) and now I have it on my favourite medium, vinyl. I have been a fan of both Sabbath and subsequently John Michael Osbourne since the early days of Ozzy's solo career. Back then I had friends who had this on vinyl in the early 80's, but my original copy was cassette and I wore out at least one copy and still have the second which I retired in favour of CD back in the early 90's. This 'Diary Of A Madman" and the first solo effort "Blizzard...", are the best it ever got for Ozzy following his departure/dismissal from Black Sabbth imho. Back then myself and my buds recognized Ozzy and his band as what the album liner had printed. Ozzy (of course), Randy Rhoads, Rudy Sarzo, and Tommy Aldridge. Unbeknownst to us and I believe almost everyone at the time, the actual songs were written and recorded in studio without the later two, but rather Bob Daisley on bass and Lee Kerslake on drums. It is nice to see those two musicians finally get their due here...although the inner sleeve still shows the picture of the touring band at that time. Which to be fair is no fault of Sarzo and Alridge, they are fine players too and served as great replacements for Daisley and Kerslake. But ultimately it was the last with this magical lineup of Rhoads, Ozzy, Daisley and Kerslake and to me a must have! Ordered it here through �鶹�� on Thursday and had it on my turntable by Saturday. 5 out of 5 stars for me. From the 1st track to the last (and my second favourite to only "You Can't Kill Rock and Roll") title track. All classic Ozzy for sure! As I mentioned nothing Ozzy released which followed did much for me as the first two and I think the reasons are obvious. But to each their own. If one likes Ozzy, you have to own this copy with the original artists recordings. I'm definitely flying high again listening to this LP!

Sometime between 1989 and 1990 I was mixing my tapes and briefly listened to the "DOAM" vinyl. I taped Believer, Over the Mountain, Flying High Again. 30 years later while talking about Ozzy with my cross-shift he wondered if I ever listened to "You Can't Kill Rock'n'Roll" or "Tonight, Tonight.". We proceeded to check them in YouTube and couldn't believe how come I missed these songs when I was 14 years old! - S.A.T.O., Little Dolls are also amazing tracks. One interesting detail: every time I listen to the final solo on "Tonight, Tonight." I get the goose bumps. It just never fails!
The second CD is incredible as well. I like the energy of "Flying High Again".
Overall it's a must have for anybody that really enjoys Ozzy, Randy, Rudy, Tommy...
