A community devoured by greed, cowardice, and fear. A man persecuted by his painful past. A woman searching for happiness. In one eventful week, each of them will face questions of life, death, and power, and each will choose their own path. Will they choose good or evil?

The remote village of Viscos is the setting for this extraordinary struggle. A stranger arrives, carrying with him a backpack containing a notebook and 11 gold bars. He comes searching for the answer to a question that torments him: Are human beings, in essence, good or evil? In welcoming the mysterious foreigner, the whole village becomes an accomplice to his sophisticated plot, which will forever mark their lives.

Paulo Coelho's stunning novel explores the timeless struggle between good and evil and its relevance to our everyday dilemmas: to dare to follow our dreams, to have the courage to be different, and to master the fear that prevents us from truly living.

Expected to match my other books, but received an eyesore. Can we stop putting photos that aren't accurate? I know it's not really about the book content but this isn't goodreads is it? Ugh!

The Devil & Miss Prym will have you questioning your morals and…

How did the book make me feel/think?

Would you be capable of making a deal with the devil to save your town?

Could you murder one innocent person to provide a dying town life and riches?

Who would you choose to murder?

    Could you play God?

The Devil & Miss Prym will have you questioning morals, digging deep into your soul to define how evil you can become (but at what cost?), as you cheer for the main character to do the right thing.

Who gets to define what the right thing is?

I don’t want to walk with the devil; every day, I want to find a way to bring light and understanding to the world instead of being swallowed by diseases, ego, and greed.

That’s how this book made me feel.

    I love this book.

A fantastic book that delves into the area of our hearts we don't like to go. If given an enormous and grandeos sum of money would we break all that is moral within our soul just a single time? A view into what humanity really is and what we possibly can be, told through an engrossing story and captivating characters. Any one who has read Paulo Coelho's other books would absolutely enjoy this.

    I love books and Reading...
What I love even more is a book that makes you think...
I picked this book up in a Paris Train Station after weeks of boredom in train stations in non-English speaking countries when i was backpacking across Europe. This was a very thoughtful read that i really enjoyed... Enjoyed to the point that once we got to the next major city, i bought the rest of Paulo Coelho's existing books. This was in Euros mind you! (compared to the Canadian Dollar!)

Grossartig

The book was interesting in the beginning, some good stories here & there for morality, but I expected a good end, the ending was kind of hallow, I couldn't grasp the meaning in the end, but it was clear in the middle of the story, the story ends wd Chantal saying "it's all bout control, choices" yea that was pretty good, but the book in the beginning was full of details n stories, i think it needed more depth at the ending. that's all. Otherwise i really enjoyed the book, & sometimes the journey gives more Meaning than the end. so, yeah, i would definitely recommend this, great work of Writer. Worth Reading, & try to learn the lessons mentioned in the story ;)
