I gave it 5 stars because it's challenging to proof or disproof that it works. The item is easy to assemble (+), comes with everything needed to get started (another +), quite straightforward to use (+) and uses solar battery to recharge (+++). However, when it comes to raccoons or any other relatively large animals, it's not clear whether the device working on them or not. The first day I installed the device, the raccoon came back like there was nothing there. However, I have not seen him for a few days after, so either it's working or not. I assume that the best strategy is to approach from different angles - deterring fluids, this lamp, sharp light and, worse comes to worst, capturing alive and departing far away. Therefore, I consider it successful step 2 out of 4 available.
