Product description

DeoxIT Fader F-Series is a precision lubricant for moving contact surfaces. It replenishes lubrication lost on surfaces that have been cleaned with solvents or other cleaning solutions. DeoxIT Fader was specifically formulated to improve conductivity and lubricate conductive plastic and carbon compound faders, switches, and other mechanisms with sliding surfaces. Over time these components lose their original lubrication from wear and/or repeated cleaning. Dust, dirt, smoke, drink spills and other contamination also degrade the components’ lubricant. The need for re-lubrication is necessary to avoid excess wear and abrasion to the plastic surfaces. DeoxIT Fader is also effective on conductive membrane switches and components. Oil, grease, and acids build up on the membrane surfaces due to repeated finger contact and can lead to device malfunction. Applying DeoxIT Fader will provide a long-lasting barrier against these types of contamination. The oil, grease and acids will be displaced above the DeoxIT Fader layer preventing contact with the plastic membrane.

    I had a volume pot on my guitar that was scratchy and misbehaving. I always have a can of Deoxit D5 laying around, but it would only fix this issue for about a week. I don't smoke and I don't gig, so I wasn't sure what was wrong with the pot. Before I went through the trouble of replacing it (which I can do, but I hate soldering), I thought I'd try a little of the F5 fader spray. I hadn't used any of the F5 since my studio days 30 years ago, but boy did it do the trick! I got it about 3-4 months ago and gave the troublesome pot a single spritz. It has been whisper quiet ever since. I bought the small can because I don't foresee myself using a lot of this stuff, but the can is ridiculously small. For the price its a far better deal to get the normal sized can.
