    First, the good; this thing has decent value. For ~$130 you get a 7th gen i5, a 512GB SSD, and 16 gigs of ram. That's awesome, and works perfectly for my needs.

    Now, the bad; the refurbishment on this is bad, to the point where I would say non-existent. The fan would run, audibly, just sitting on the desktop. I took it apart, and the the inside was full of dust, with the heat sink being completely full of dust bunnies. I used an air duster, but it still ran hot, so I checked the thermal paste, and found that it likley hadn't been repasted since manufacture. Repasting fixed the heat problem but this is an incredibly simple step, one that should have been done. I'd say that a good dusting and repaste should be the minimum for an item to be considered refurbished/renewed.

    I'm also missing a part, the hard drive caddy. I reached out but I haven't heard back yet. Otherwise, I'll have to order one, which I shouldn't have to do.

    I'm lowering my rating to two stars, due to the fact that the motherboard on this gave out less than a year into owning it. I went to turn it on one day, and nothing happened. I did a bunch of trouble shooting, figured out it was the board, and gave it a good exam. Unfortunately it turned out that one of the caps gave out. There is visible burn marks on the motherboard. I have no idea what caused it, I used this maybe 10 hours a week for Plex. It had plenty of ventilation, almost zero dust in the house (full house air filter), and definitely didn't overheat, not with the way I was using it. I know there's RNG associated with every refurbished device, but I've never had something refurbished give out so quickly. I would absolutely stay away from 鶹 renewed, given the condition I received this in, couple with the fact that it died so quickly and so easily.
