Product description

The Deck & Home 190399 Universal Sprayer is the only pump sprayer you will need around your home. It can be used to apply water-based, thinner viscosity sealers for decks and concrete, kill weeds, feed plants, control insects, detail your car, clean windows, control dust, bleach, degrease, clean shingles, water plants and more (NOTE: It is not designed to apply stains). The lockable shut-off reduces hand fatigue while continuously spraying chemicals. Viton seals are throughout the pump and shut-off offering the best chemical resistance to bleach and other harsh chemicals. The heart and soul of this sprayer is the highly efficient pump. It requires 25% fewer pumps per gallon than the leading competitor. Also includes 4 nozzles for ultimate versatility: poly adjustable, 2 flat fans and a high performance foaming nozzle.

The 2 gallon size is the maximum you would want to carry. I am using it to spray for weeds. The tips that come with it are more than adequate to do a lot of chores. The spray pattern for the herbicides is approximately 1 foot across and it is time saving. When you read the manual it mentions a brown tip. This model does not come with a brown tip even though it is mentioned in the manual. They made a manual for two models and had the same info for both models. Some people thing they are missing a tip-I phoned the company and was advised the package I bought was not supposed to have a brown tip. I am very happy with the quality of this sprayer. I am 6' 3" tall. The hose and wand are just the right size.

I've been able to make use of this for the last two months and haven't encountered any issues or failures.

The sprayer comes dissembled and it really doesn't take a lot of engineering skills to figure out how everything fits together. It took about 3 minutes to get it all put together, you can't make any mistakes as everything only fits in one spot and there are only a couple of things to attach like the sprayer hose and handle.

Operation is simple, once liquid has been added, it take a few pumps and away you go. There are three nozzles that provide different patterns which allow for using it in the wide open to tight area's between plants. Volume wise I can cover a very large area of lawn with weed killer on just one fill.

There is a mark for maximum fill level. You do not want to fill past this point as there needs to be a fairly large area left for air. If the sprayer is completely filled there is no room for air to be compressed so that the sprayer can run for a minutes before needing to be pumped up again. This space is necessary to allow enough air to be compressed so that it can function correctly.

Some reviewers commented that it didn't work for spraying varnishes or other liquids applied to decks, this sprayer is not meant to be used with these types of products. They are simply too thick for them to be sprayed without blocking the nozzle. There are sprayers made for these liquids. The product description is very clear on this.

To pack it away for the winter I simply filled to maximum and pumped it up. I repeated this process till all of the water was emptied. took the hose off and let it drain. Once all of the water is out it can safely be stored outside for the winter.

When the new one came in, it was missing the same parts so it was a bit disappointing to go through the hassle of returning the second sprayer when the parts mentioned in the manual don't come with it. Bought 2 of these for our Community Garden in November, so needless to say, they sat around unused for awhile. First time, one worked great! (Kept the other one in the box). Although it takes a lot of pumping to pressurize the container. Second time to use, couldn't get any pressure built up, no spray, nada. Reread the instructions, followed exactly, made sure all connections were tight, and still nothing. So pulled the other one out of the box and assembled. Well it didn't work no way no how, because it was missing the rubber ring on the pump! So I gave up and pulled out my 1 Gal HDX , and without an issue, it got the job done. Only wish the Garden Committee could get their money back.
