I’ve repurchased the De’Longhi Descale Solution a few times now, and it works great. It removes buildup efficiently without leaving any weird aftertaste in my coffee. My machine runs smoother after each use, and I’ve noticed better steam output for frothing milk. It’s a bit pricey compared to generic descalers, but I prefer it over the generic ones because it is made specifically for De’Longhi machines. One bottle lasts a couple of uses, so it’s worth it to keep my coffee machine in top shape. Definitely recommend if you want to maintain your DeLonghi machine!!

Please be aware that the bottle doesnt come full to the very top and this does not mean that it was opened.

I use EcoDecalk descaler on my DeLonghi Eletta bean-to-cup coffee machine.

Living in an area with very hard water, I tend to run the descaling process the moment my machine tells me to, to prevent any damage to its inner workings.

This descaler uses lactic acid, with the manufacturer claiming that it is more efficient than the usual citric acid that many other descalers use. Having looked at some of the other (often cheaper) options I am a bit suspicious that quite a few of the alternatives aren’t really up to the task of adequately descaling these types of coffee machines.

I’ve certainly found that EcoDecalk is suitable and keeps my machine in good working order. When I ran out of it and had to delay descaling my machine, it was noticeable that the limescale built up quite quickly blocking the steam outlet for the frothing mechanism. Once I had got a new bottle of this descaler I was able to clear that blockage and restore my machine to normal.

A further use for EcoDecalk is that once the diluted liquid has passed through the coffee machine and the descaling process is complete, it is possible to put the used solution in the kettle to efficiently remove any limescale from that.

Although I’m quite content to use third party water filters for my DeLonghi machine, I would not use any descaling liquid other than EcoDecalk. For me, it simply isn’t worth risking a relatively expensive machine by using other products which may not be suitable.
