I purchased this to scan in 35 mm slides taken about 20 years ago. This was easy and fast: plug into power and insert an SD card. That worked. maybe 2 seconds to scan. Easy to load slides, and monitor is all you need to orient and locate the slide properly.
Thats the good news.
The bad news is that the image quality was poor. For blurry 110 family photos it might be OK. I did not really need high res... 1500x1000 would be fine, but alas, the quality of even well lit, crisp and colourful slides was, well poor.
I ended up using my cellphone camera on macro, held up off a light table. Gave much better results, and once set up, also took 2 seconds per slide. which is a sad statement about the product.
Unless you are scanning fuzzy poor quality old images, give this product a miss.

Not bad for the price, the quality of the images is very good and the scanner is easy to operate. There is even a slide show mode and a video cable if you want to use a projector. The only drawback is that there is no button to go back to the main menu. If you are finish scanning and want to upload the images to your computer, you have to turn off the scanner and turn on again to select USB transfer mode. Same when you are scanning and want to change the mode from slide to negative, you have to power off and on. Not a big deal. Good little scanner overall.

We haven't tried this device with different types of film. We had several 35mm slides we wanted to scan to make them simpler to view, and so that is our experience with this. The good part is that this is a simple, easy-to-use, standalone, entry-level film and slide scanner. You essentially don't need a computer or any additional software to use it. The less good part is the quality of the scans. Realistically, you can pay over $1,000 for a slide scanner, so at $80 your expectations need to be realistic. I found that the captured images were consistently dark and the available range of adjustments weren't always much help. I have a full copy of Adobe Photoshop and anticipated going in that – at this price for a scanner – I would undoubtedly be using it to enhance the scans, so I wasn't overly concerned. But buyers should be aware that, depending on their expectations, they may find the results less than fully satisfying. This is very much a "you get what you pay for" product.
