    I was using 2018 for the longest time and finally was able to upgrade to this version. It's very familiar and if you're still on the old wondering if you should upgrade, then here's two answers:
    1: Yes, having the most up to date software is a good idea, especially with Windows 10 ending.
    2: No, if you're familiar with it and it works, the upgrade gives you a few more bells and whistles, but mainly stays the same.
    For me, realizing I'll be upgrading my computer probably in the next six months when Win 10 ends, I wanted to be sure to have the latest software that works with all OS.
    The new features are kind of cool, auto subtitles (95 percent accurate), and some cool transitions are basically the draw. Everything else is pretty much the same. I saw that this also had a way to make videos into cartoons and I thought that would be cool. It's an additional program and fee even though I got this "ultimate" version... go figure.

    I have been a PowerDirector user since PowerDirector 7 (packaged with an old JVC Hard Disc Camcorder years ago).

    It has gotten steadily better over the years. With the recent addition of a mini PC for a desktop workstation in addition to my laptop, I needed PD for there, since I couldn't get another license for PD 20 I opted for 2025.

    I give it 4 stars because they completely changed the packaging / download / delivery.

    It USED to be pay them for the license, they send you an email with links and a product key. You download the packages and install (a LOT of them). This made it a LOT easier to archive at home and not need to re-download it if you do something like, oh have a hard drive fail and you need to reinstall...

    I opted for the permanent license version because I keep my computers until they are completely obsolete, and run the snot out of them (I still have an old 8 core AMD FX from 2012 now running Debian GNU/Linux). The stand alone works OFFLINE which isn't critical here, but should I upgrade my laptop I need to be able to work without require constant internet connectivity while on the road...

    To get this version you buy it, they send you a physical box that has a product key, and a download link, you MUST create an account on CyberLink's website (I have had one for years) which is honestly a painful process I have been told due to issues with their verification system glitching... Then you can download the downloader, run the downloader and pray you have a reasonably fast internet connection. It is going to take a while if you are being throttled...

    Honestly if they are going to send you a physical box, why can't they put the software on a flash drive?

    I have used a LOT of other apps including Adobe, KDENLive, and even Windows native video editors. This is hands down the easiest to get the best results out of reliably.

    This is a very powerful video editor that works without having to risk tieing my main computer to the internet. Very intuitive user interface. Multi-Camera feature works but needs improvements. Rendering of video after finishing editing video is fast. Burning of disks can only be done immediately after rendering. Even though Video directories and ISO files are generated. Retail pricing is very reasonable.

    Bought in November 2024 and I'm about to use if for the first time. Activation code doesn't work! Will try to contact support and will update this review if all goes well. If not, will dispute this purchase with 鶹 or the credit card company.

    UPDATE: The code works on the website, but you must enter all the characters including the minus symbol on their membership website in order to download the program. I didn't enter the minus symbol last time because I never had to do that with any other "professional" software like Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas (separators are normally excluded). This is just a terrible website and overall customer experience planning. However, when you activate the code directly with the software, you don't need it anymore. I'm keeping the one star review because this company likes to waste people's time with entering the code when you download the program then RE-ENTERING it again to activate the program. Customer support also didn't tell me all characters need to be entered (not just letters and numbers). That should be the first thing they should tell everyone and not a whole bunch of useless instructions.
