    Avevo una copia del libro Cuore nella libreria di casa, spesso tornavo a leggere le gesta della piccola vedetta lombarda, del buon Garrone, della saggezza del maestro Perboni. Un libro che mi ha reso una persona migliore, che ha aperto una finestra sulla vita normale di alunni di più di un secolo fa. Fresco, allegro, triste, attuale. Lo sto rileggendo con lo stesso interesse e lo stesso cuore di tanti anni fa, e mi rivedo, seduto sulla scrivania della mia camera di ragazzo, immerso nella lettura di questo meraviglioso testo. Vorrei poter sedermi accanto a quel ragazzo che ero e dirgli quanto sono orgoglioso di lui.

    Das Buch aus Italien ist nun fast 150 Jahre alt - kein Wunder, dass Passagen nationalistisch, sehr moralisch und manchmal an der Grenze zum Kitsch anrührend sind. Trotzdem: sehr lesenswert, weil die Redlichkeit der beschriebenen Menschen beeindruckt. Ein paar Geschichten (z.B. "Großmut", "Der Kohlenhändler", "Das Maurermeisterlein") kann man gut auch heute Schulkindern erzählen - sie kommen gut an! Nur schade, dass das Buch z.Zt. vergriffen ist.
