The only regret I have is that I didn't buy this item sooner. I had been using the chinese fine mesh ladles for years to unsuccessfully skim the fat off the top of my meals! this one truly is a good design to filter large chunks off using the lid, and only have good wholesome meat juices/sauce filter through the bottom hole. It works absolutely as intended and that is wonderful. Gravy now remains healthy!
The thing with cleaning is, as with all plastic, is that oil is very difficult to wash off plastic. In this department, the plastic is no super-plastic, and it is still not super easy to de-grease, but that is the case with all plastics so I'm not going to kick and whine too much since this would be the case unless they decided to make a model in the future that features glass instead of plastic.
Overall though this is a solid build and does the job right and for this price, it's a definite recommend.
