When to Apply

When water quality becomes poor. In the spring to replenish winter bacteria loss. Any time filter media is replaced. Boost bacteria levels 3 days after any algaecide treatment. Before new fish are added to the pond to reduce ammonia spikes. When ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates are testing high.

PondShock can be added to koi ponds, ornamental ponds, self-contained water features, and backyard ponds. Apply treatment once a month or as needed when water temperatures are above 10°C. Note that PondShock is a bacteria treatment, not an algaecide, and it does not kill algae or eliminate green water.

How to Apply

PondShock is easy to use. Simply apply ball and activating gel directly to the pond every 4 weeks or as needed. Ponds without proper filtration may require more frequent applications. Use when water temperature is above 10°C. To open, break seal tab on lid.

Restrictions

PondShock must be stored above 4°C. It is best to wait three days after an algaecide treatment to apply PondShock.

FAQs

How many PondShock balls does my pond need?

Each ball will treat 2,500 gallons of water. If your pond is smaller than 2,500 gallons, then still use one complete PondShock ball (do NOT cut/divide the ball into smaller portions).

Can I increase my dosage for faster results?

Unfortunately, no, using more than the recommended amount of PondShock will not speed up the process and will only lead to waste. Bacteria treatments need time to work and build, so patience and routine applications are necessary for the best results.

Will it get rid of algae?

PondShock is not an algaecide. PondShock contains billions of all-natural, live bacteria and enzymes that are designed to rapidly break down ammonia, nitrites and organic waste. By removing these nutrients, PondShock reduces what fuels algae and pond weed growth. If you’re looking for algae control, however, we recommend CrystalClear Algae D-Solv and CrystalClear AlgaeOff, both of which are EPA-registered algaecides.

Is it safe for my koi?

Yes, when used in accordance with label directions, PondShock is safe for plants, fish, birds, pets, domestic animals, and aquatic wildlife. PondShock is an all-natural blend of bacteria and enzymes with activating gel.

Can PondShock be used in a pool?

It is not recommended to use this product in a swimming pool. PondShock is designed for koi ponds, ornamental ponds, self-contained water features, and backyard ponds up to 10,000 gallons.
