Product description
Al Pacino is Cruising for a killer.
Legendary director William Friedkin brings together Al Pacino, the 70s New York gay scene and a searing punk-rock soundtrack in this one-of-a-kind serial killer thriller, finally restored to its long-unavailable original theatrical version in 4K.
New York is caught in the grip of a sadistic serial killer who is preying on the patrons of the city's underground gay scene. Young rookie cop Steve Burns (Pacino) is tasked with infiltrating the S&M subculture to try and lure the killer out of the shadows... but as he immerses himself deeper and deeper into the underworld, Steve risks losing his own identity in the process.
Taking the premise and title from reporter Gerald Walker's novel, Cruising was the subject of great controversy at the time of its release and remains a challenging and remarkable movie to this day, with Pacino's haunted lead performance as its magnetic centrepiece. With hours of brand-new bonus features, including never-before-seen material from the deepest recesses of the studio archives, you've never seen Cruising like this.

- Reviewed in Canada on March 12, 2024Verified PurchaseCruising is a dark detective thriller, not for the faint at heart. It's ambiguity is only exceeded by it's audacity. If you're not interested in the subculture of gay life in the leather bars of the gritty late 70's, this movie isn't for you. This movie is fascinating in it's detail about police procedures & the glorious night life in the leather bars, where men were free to follow their hot desires. Al Pacino gives a grounded performance as a man in over his head, losing his innocence & holding back his own animalistic rage. This film has a fantastic soundtrack that you'll wanna put on your chaps and boogie! This is film is the real Blue Oyster! Repeat viewings are highly recommended for this highly controversial gay classic!
- Reviewed in Canada on October 2, 2021Verified PurchaseThis movie tells it like it is from a time when you did not get into trouble with the 'I'm offended' police. The plot is out there and bazar but it is one of Pacino's best movies I think. I wandered down into an area of San Francisco a few years back, walking down a street with the look of the scenes in the film with all it's characters. Felt way out of place and unsafe and looked like it to a taxi driver who motioned me over to get in his cab and took me to where the bars I was looking for were located.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 16, 2022Verified PurchaseI liked al Pacino. I've watched many older movies as they show what the stars were like in the past.

Faites plus de redistribution de ces films.
- Reviewed in Canada on October 7, 2014Verified PurchaseI had heard lots about this movie, and was very interested in seeing it. Mainly for the disturbing content, and the fact that a young Al Pacino was smack dab in the middle of it. On a whole, I thought this movie was fairly boring. Lots of scenes of men walking down the street very fast. I understand that when this movie came out (no pun intended), it was way before the gay community was accepted as it is today. Especially gay leather bars. Pretty risqué content, for 1980. Nowadays, not so shocking. Except for one particular scene that made my eyes widen. I won't give anything away, but those who have seen it know what I'm talking about. All in all, I thought this movie was ok.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 5, 2021Verified PurchaseVery graphic, dark underworld of male homosexuality…not for the faint of heart…if you thought Serpico was good, this one is even better…

5.0 out of 5 stars Integrale

5.0 out of 5 stars super

5.0 out of 5 stars Lockbetet Blu-Ray (Import)
Verified PurchaseThis is the Arrow release of Cruising, don't know why it's filed under the name Lockbetet, cause that word is not to be found on the cover. Just the same as the more expensive Cruising blu-ray's.
Anyway, good movie, audio & video quality also good.
If you like Friedkin's movies or classic Pacino it's a must buy, especially for this price.
