Let me put this outright from the get-go. I got this on sale and it was basically a steal. So if you can, wait for a sale but otherwise, this pen is wonderful at the retail price!
Smooth. Classy. Lightweight.
This pen is honestly the last ballpoint pen you need before stepping up to the more expensive siblings. I could be very content with this ballpoint pen alone especially considering the other pricier pens I have in my collection.
Honestly, my personal preference is a fountain pen. The unique way it writes makes everything feel personal and intimate. Truly making writing your own.
Writing a signature? Fountain pen. Taking notes? Fountain pen. Sending a letter to a loved one? Fountain pen. I have done so for as long as I can remember. Writing with a Lamy Safari in high school and then finally stepping it up to the "big boys" like Waterman and Cross in University.
I decided I needed a change of pace. As much as I love fountain pens, I always knew the disadvantages would hold me back against bringing them everywhere with me. When traveling, I would worry about the ink spilling or the ink jar shattering in my bag. I would always worry about running out of ink. I would worry about the nib being damaged while frantically gathering my things for the next class. Worry. Worry. Worry.
Enter the Cross Classic Century.
I have the Satin Chrome version. It has a matte-like texture that leaves it scratch and fingerprint free. I absolutely think it is gorgeous and stunning to behold. It will never hold a candle to my fountain pens, but it is beautiful nonetheless. The writing is smooth and never scratches on paper. I have no issues with the weight as it is perfectly balanced (as all things should be).
I bring it everywhere I go because you never know when the next bit of notes may appear.
