At fortysomething, straight-laced Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) is living the dream-good job, nice house, great kids and marriage to his high school sweetheart. But when Cal learns that his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore), has cheated on him and wants a divorce, his "perfect" life quickly unravels. The hapless Cal is taken on as wingman and protégé to handsome, thirtysomething player Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling). In an effort to help Cal get over his wife and start living his life, Jacob opens Cal's eyes to the many options before him: flirty women, manly drinks and a sense of style that can't be found at Supercuts or The Gap. But despite Cal's makeover and his many new conquests, the one thing that can't be made over is his heart, which seems to keep leading him back to where he began.

    Everyone was perfectly cast in this movie, Steve Carrel gave a particularly moving performance as the father who is suddenly out of his family and the subplot between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone was brilliant as it did not give anything away. The two younger kids were cast quite nicely as well and they brought everything to a head.

    " Hey, wissen Sie was? Meine Frau hat Geschlechtsverkehr mit einem Mann...., und das bin nicht ich!!"
    Okay, Gosling ( Jacob ) in der Rolle des fürsorglichen ( verdammt gut aussehenden ) Aufreissers, der Carell ( Cal )
    unter die Ärmchen greift, ist ungewöhnlich. Oh nö, ist geil. Und kolossal und wahnsinnig lustig und überhaupt nicht daneben.
    Ryan Gosling ist für mich nun mal Gänsehaut oder Entenpelle pur. Seine Aktionen und Dialoge hier wieder einmal zum niederknien.
    " Das Problem ist, dass dein Kopf in etwa so die Form einer großen Erdnuss hat,.....die Haut unter deinen Augen sieht langsam
    aus wie Hugh Hefners Sack....." . .- " Tatsächlich..... ". Ahahahahha! Und lol!

    Mitvierziger Cal Weaver denkt/ dachte, seine Ehe ist perfekt.
    Doch seine Frau lehrt in eines besseren: Scheidung will sie. Die Scheidung!
    Nun ist Cal Single- und auf der Suche. Was ein Glück, dass ihm der Zehn Jahre
    jüngere Jacob über den Weg läuft. Und ihm Tipps geben kann. Oder doch nicht so gut?

    Und ist der Sohn von Emily und Cal. " Du wirst lernen, mich zu lieben. " - " Nein, werd` ich nicht. "
    Und alle sind traurig. Und dabei so lustig.
    " Du hast gegooglet? Und wozu ist dann die Kindersicherung gut? " - " Ich komm` gut damit klar. " -
    " Du bist ja auch ein ekliger Teenager.....kein Wunder. "
    CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE- die Liebe, unendliche Erklärungsversuche für etwas, was so einfach und zugleich
    auch wieder so kompliziert sein kann. Und so grausam wie schön.
    CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE- die einzelnen Charaktere ergänzen sich echt toll und punkten bei mir mit gar witzigen
    Dialogen, witzigen Szenen, Gefühl und einem super Drehbuch. Keine 0815 Komödie, niemals.
    " Du bist anders,- ich find` s heiss. "
    Die richtigen Werte werden dem Zuschauer vor Augen geführt- oft kann man in Carell oder Gosling sich selbst
    oder andere Personen aus seinem Umfeld wiedererkennen. Und die Chemie der Hauptdarsteller stimmt hier wirklich.
    CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE ist witzig, traurig, verrückt und gar nicht dumm. Und irgendwie das echte Leben.
    Mit geilem Sound.
    Der eingerostete Ehemann, der verlassen und aufgepimpt wird- und eigentlich doch die ganze Zeit er selbst bleibt.
    Ehrlich und brüllkomisch. Und es gibt wahrhaftig Leute, denen der Schluss nicht gefällt. Nee, oder?

    I had refrained from viewing this film at the cinema, as I can't imagine Steve Carell as anything other than the irritating comic relief in numerous Will Ferrell films (loved by my sons!). On a thin night for cable viewing, I surfed to this and was quickly engrossed, enchanted and entertained.
    I don't want to tell the story, as it should to be watched with a fresh, open mind and it deserves to be more than a 'Rom-Com'. It is well-cast and acted - all the leads (Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone) all fit and Marisa Tomei gives an quirky, frothy-but-with-a-sting-in-the-tail performance, which seemed to deserve more screen time. There is great humour, some pathos, some slapstick and some squirming to be experienced, but above all the look, feel and sound of the film give great enjoyment. I've watched it several times since the Blu-Ray arrived and knowing the story does not diminish my wish to see it again. Enjoy!
