This is a beautiful diamond painting set that would appeal to any teen or even an adult. There are six pieces that are double sided and are small enough that you could complete a full piece in approximately an hour. I got these to do for my granddaughter so she could hang them in her room near the window. Unfortunately the photos above don't do these pieces justice. They have a beautiful shimmer and shine to them when the light hits.

Each piece is clearly numbered/lettered and covered with film to protect it before starting. These are beautifully coloured shimmery diamonds and there more than enough allotted. The set also comes with a large packet of beads and crystals that attach to the bottom of each piece with chains and carabiners. Everything is included with detailed instructions of how to attach and all holes are pre-drilled.

I decided to start off doing one letter and one number on all pieces at the same time. That meant I only had to open a couple of packets at once instead of trying to complete one piece and opening several packets. Once I got into a rhythm, it was pretty quick and took me about an hour to do all six pieces, both sides, with a lot of diamonds left over. Every day I would do a letter and a number and repeat the process.

Once I completed a piece, I had to find somewhere to place it, as once you remove the film, the piece is extremely sticky. If you place it down, it sticks to the surface and if you pull, the diamonds will come out. I ended up placing the pieces against my dresser mirror which worked well. I also dropped a couple of pieces while I was working. A piece of advice? Don’t work in flannel or fleece pyjama bottoms. If you drop a piece with the film off, it will become covered in “fuzz”.

There is some confusion in the ad over what age this appeals to. It states 6-10, 10-12, and 5-11 year olds. I have real doubt that a five or six year could do this, even with help from an adult. The pieces are too small and the work is too detailed. An older child, maybe ages 8-10 could do this with help from an adult and I think kids 11+ would do okay on their own. It takes a lot of focus picking up the diamonds and getting them placed perfectly in their spots. Regardless of age, it will take an adult to put on the chains, carabiners, beads and crystals and will require a small pair of craft pliers to do so.

Even so, this has been fun to do as well as relaxing once you realize that you have to be careful, and once you set out a strategy to work. I filled the tray with just enough diamonds to work on one piece at a time, and one side at a time. Otherwise, I was afraid of knocking over the tray and having diamonds scatter all over the floor....not fun with pouncing cats! Once you start, you cannot reattach the protective film, otherwise it will pull off the diamonds already placed.

There are a couple of things that would make this kit better. It would be nice to have an extra pen if siblings or friends wanted to work together. Also, it would be nice if the diamonds were in small zip locked bags. Once you cut open a pack of diamonds, there is no way to close it and you have to tape it shut. I ended up getting a small storage organizer of 30 one inch containers from a dollar store and separated the colours into each container, labelling them appropriately. They just snap shut and is a better way to keep them all together, plus are reusable for future diamond painting projects.

I still give this kit five stars because the quality is great and contains more than enough diamonds, beads and crystals to finish the project. I have enjoyed working on this so much that I ordered a large 12x16 diamond painting to do. I am about 3/4 of the way through and still have the beads and crystals to attach and think that will be the hardest part of the project. I will do an update with the finished set in about a month's time.

Everything you need to make these diamond painting mobiles are included, from plastic mobile cutouts with the color and number or letter printed on them, to the diamond beads you press on, to the pen and the waxy glue that you use to pick up each bead, the larger beads and fasteners to add attachments, and the instructions, both on a colored instruction printed sheet and on the back of the box.

The mobiles are smaller than I thought they would be but they are beautiful and they are so easy to make. For some reason they came stuck together but it was easy enough to take them apart.

You peel off the plastic covering a little bit at a time and there is a sticky base underneath that allows the diamond beads to stick. It's very easy to pick up each bead with the waxy substance and the pen, and to place it perfectly on the circle with a number or letter telling you which color to put on. It is so satisfying to do.

Diamond painting feels soothing to do and addictive because it is easy and calming, and you end up with a beautiful product. I love the design of these beautiful little mobiles, especially the dragonfly and hummingbird and butterfly with the colours and patterns, and you end up with a beautiful product after working on it in a way that is soothing and calming.

I got these for me! No children except my inner child :)

I was a bit frustrated, as a new diamond painter, with getting the diamonds to lie face up for picking up with the "brush" but eventually got the hang of it.

I like that you can create multiple little objects, do a bit at a time, and that they are two sided and can be hung in windows as well as used as keychains or thingamabob holders.

This is a very pretty set but think $23 is a little more than I would pay. There's plenty of diamonds, so if it had 8 designs rather than 6, I would see it as a better value.
