About this item
- HOT WATER OUTLET INSTALLATION [STANDARD FOR BRADFORD WHITE*] - Designed for 10-120-gallon water heaters, this model is tailored for installation in the hot water outlet (instead of a dedicated anode port), fitting any standard 3/4” NPT thread. Though named Bradford White, it is compatible with almost all water heater brands such as Bosch and A.O. Smith, except Buderus. This model can also be the solution if your anode is stuck in the dedicated anode port.
- FEW BRADFORD WHITE TANKS HAVE DEDICATED ANODE PORTS - If your model is listed here, our 40-89-gallon model will also fit your tank: RE250L6, RE250T6, RE255T, RE280T6, RE2H50S, RE2H65T, RE2H80T, RE340T6, RG275H6N, SW-2-40R-L, SW-2-65-L, URG275H6N.

24-HOUR ROTTEN EGG SMELL ELIMINATION IN HOT WATER
Corro-Protec will remove the sulfur smell from well water and city water and is especially effective in hot water.
No matter what causes the sulfur odor in your hot water, the Corro-Protec powered anode rod offers a reliable and cost-effective solution for neutralizing it. Moreover, it is a time-efficient answer to your problem, as it requires no maintenance and does not involve the use of chemicals like hydrogen peroxide or bleach.
Once the system is operational, the energy projected by our powered anode rod will prevent these unpleasant smells for years to come! If the foul smell also originates from the cold water, it means that your water source is contaminated. In that case, Corro-Protec will help by reducing the odor in hot water but won't solve this issue in cold water.
Sulfur smell in hot water is a common issue around North America and affects both new and old water heaters. Rest assured, Corro-Protec is your trusted solution to effectively eliminate this persistent problem.

STOPS CORROSION INSIDE THE TANK & PREVENTS WATER HEATER LEAKS
Our Corro-Protec anode combined with the electrical current will provide added corrosion protection and increase the lifespan of your hot water tank.
Our technology provides a layer of permanent corrosion protection on the internal solders and weak points of the tank.
This technology is recognized by corrosion specialists and has been laboratory tested. We believe that powered anode rods should be installed in all water heater tanks to increase their lifespan.
Replacing magnesium or aluminum anodes every year ensures a protection from corrosion; however, the use of material depleting returns to diminishing effectiveness over time.
Moreover, powered anode rod greatly reduces the amount of water heater parts in the landfill every year when corrosion takes over and damages the tanks. Postponing disposal is essential for promoting sustainable practices.

REDUCES SEDIMENT BUILDUP AND LIMESCALE
The formation of limescale can cause a variety of costly issues, including the rehabilitation of water pipes and heating installations, as well as considerable energy losses.
The Corro-Protec powered anode is then used to break apart calcium molecules found in the water, preventing further calcite formation and compromising the formation of limescale which is usually left behind by hard water when it evaporates (water with high mineral count).
Limescale water can have negative impacts on the scalp and causes brittle and dull hair.

CLOUDY WATER AND AIR IN HOT WATER LINES
Air in hot water lines is a common problem and can be caused by various factors.
Corrosion inside water heaters is one of the most common causes, as it produces hydrogen which builds up and is released when hot water is used. Corro-Protec powered anode rods prevent and stop the corrosion process inside the tank.
Factory-installed magnesium anodes may also produce some hydrogen; however, it usually has no impact on water pressure. Finally, turning off the water supply or performing maintenance work can also allow air to enter the system.
Stop corrosion and the bubbles all at once!

Sulfur smell in hot water

Corrosion in tank and water heater leaks

Sediment buildup and limescale

Air in hot water lines and cloudy water
Corro-Protec anodes can be installed in any water heater types, capacities and brands. Corro-Protec is also safe with all water sources and treatment systems including well water and water softeners.
FITS ON ELECTRIC, GAS, SOLAR, HYBRID, INDIRECT AND GEOTHERMAL WATER HEATERS
Corro-Protec anodes fit all water heater tank types, except tankless models, which do not have an anode.
When you choose a Corro-Protec powered anode rod, the capacity of your water heater is what really matters.
Standard tanks range from 40 to 89 gallons and will require our 40-89 gallon model which fits dedicated anode port.
However, if you have a Bradford White tank, you might need our anode model for Bradford White and Hot Water Outlet Installation in place instead of our 40-89-gallon model.
Our anode rod can be installed in both new and existing water heaters.
4 MODELS FOR RESIDENTIAL TANKS BETWEEN 10 AND 120 GALLONS & 1 MODEL FOR RV SUBURBAN
The Corro-Protec powered anode rods fit several brands such as:
American, A.O. Smith, Ariston, Bosch, Bradford White***, Buderus***, Giant, John Wood, Kenmore, GWS, State, Lochinvar, Reliance, Rheem, Richmond, Rinnai, RUUD, Stiebel Eltron, Whirlpool, U.S. Craftmaster, and more.
*** We offer a specific model for Bradford White water heaters, which typically fits into the hot water outlet rather than the dedicated anode port.
***If your Bradford White tank is listed here, it means that your tank has a dedicated anode port and you can select our 40-89-gallon model: RE250L6, RE250T6, RE255T, RE280T6, RE340T6, RG275H6N, SW-2-40R-L, SW-2-65-L, URG275H6N
CORRO-PROTEC IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU HAVE A WATER SOFTENER
Corro-Protec anodes are safe with any water sources (city and well water) and water treatment systems (water softener, filtration, reverse osmosis, etc.).
It's worth knowing that water softeners can be very aggressive in causing corrosion because soft water is conducive, and thus prone to, corrosion. Additionally, they can promote the growth of Sulfur Reducing B (SRB), which is typically responsible for the rotten egg smell in hot water. The Corro-Protec powered anode rod will automatically adjust its current to provide optimum corrosion protection.

Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod (titanium) VS Sacrificial anodes (magnesium, zinc and/or aluminum)

A safe and small amount of current induced in the water heater tank by the powered anode rod
The Corro-Protec anode uses a completely different technology than sacrificial anode.
This technology will last much longer and will offer better protection to your tank.
Corro-Protec powered anode rods are Smaller, More Durable (20 years) & Better than any sacrificial anode rods.
- Corro-Protec anodes are continuously tested in our lab in order to offer you safe and effective products.
Anode rod for hot water heater
CORRO-PROTEC POWERED ANODE ROD HAS BEEN DESIGNED AND TESTED TO LAST FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS
When a hot water tank is exposed to corrosive water, the sacrificial anode will transfer electrons to the inner side of the hot water tank to protect it. The anode will slowly deplete. After a year or so, there will be no more protection.
To protect your tank, replace the existing anode with a Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod and connect the current rectifier. Our Corro-Protec combined with the electrical current will provide improved corrosion protection & increase the life of your water heater.
- Powered anode rods are made of stable materials (titanium) that do not disintegrate like sacrificial anode (magnesium, aluminum and zinc).
- A powered anode rod generates permanent protection instead of temporary protection.
- Doesn’t require any maintenance like sacrificial anodes.
- 12-inch long powered anode rods greatly facilitate installation in restricted space.
- Safe to use with a water softener, and well and city water.

- Reviewed in Canada on December 11, 2024Verified PurchaseFirst off I want to say that corro-protec's customer service is amazing. I had an issue with the two piece Bradford White Elbow and they sent me a replacement in less than 2 days!
I'm really hoping this electronic anode rod will prolong my water heaters life.
My issue was that my last water heater died early luckily still under warranty. I have a water softener which is likely the cause. I did change my magnesium anode rod every 4 years but my tank still died early, I might have had to change the anode every two years but this would get expensive. A Bradford White anode is about $180 so in about 2-4 years this corro-protec powered anode will have paid for itself plus low to no maintenance, just be sure to check for the green light and inspect the rod from time to time. The installation I wish would have gone easier, it wasn't a 30 minute job like I hoped but not that difficult that I wanted to pay a plumber. I should note that I had to had to use pipe sealant otherwise I had a small leak on the elbow and hot water outlet.

- Reviewed in Canada on January 29, 2025Verified PurchaseWe lived in this house for several years and my parents had it before. There was always a Sulfur (rotten egg) smell when using hot water. A friend of mine pointed me to the anode in the hot water tank. From there I found the Coro-Protect product. I was a bit skeptical. Well within 12 hours the Sulfur smell was gone. Sure wish I had found that years ago. Fairly easy to install. Fitted perfectly.

- Reviewed in Canada on December 23, 2024Verified PurchaseI run off well water and already have a chlorine injection system and activated carbon filter. Even with this our hot water had an egg smell. Our water tank did not have an anode rod so I was doubtful this would do anything. Within hours of installing this the egg smell was completely gone. It’s been 4 days now and no smell at all. Fantastic product, and costs nothing to maintain (no additional chemicals). Highly recommend.

Reviewing 3 months later, still going strong. Would recommend if someone is having the same issue.
MAKE sure to check that you are buying the correct model as I bought the wrong kind first, before I bought the "Bradford White" needed to fit my exact water heater.

5.0 out of 5 stars After easy install, clear water returns
Verified PurchaseI never knew that water heaters had anodes that needed to be maintained/replaced. Probably explains the periodic replacement of water heaters in my homes. So when my wife noticed a rust tint to our water I took to the internet to research.
I am always interested in long-term solutions, so when I saw this powered anode from Corro-Protec had a 20 year expected life I focused on researching its reviews. Seems very well reviewed, and while I can only speak to installation and initial results, I can say installation was relatively easy. Within a day the water ran clear again. Very satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars Install on Bradford White Not Too Bad
Verified PurchaseThis is just a review of the installation since BW makes this more difficult that it needs to be. That said the literature provided with the product was very helpful and easy to follow. I won't go through all of that, just hitting the highlights here.
One bit that wasn't covered was for the powered blower models you really need to remove the blower motor assembly to get your wrench on the outlet connection. This is easy just 3 sheet metal screws hold it to the top of the water heater and disconnect the exhaust PVC pipe and it pops right off (sticks a little because of the gasket but not tot bad. Once it's off just push it out of the way (first photo).
The tough part is getting the old anode/water connection out. Even with the blower out of the way it's tough to get enough leverage without moving the whole water heater. Instructions say leave the tank mostly full of water which helps I think. I was able to break it free using the old hammer-pipe wrench combo. From there it was smooth sailing (2nd photo). After 5 years the anode was in surprisingly good shape! Probably could have re-installed it and gotten at least another 5 years out of it, but at this point we're committed...
I went with a new Sharkbite connector rather than try and re-use the old copper outlet connector. As usual SB is a life-saver. I have the PEX tools but SB is easier and I've not yet had any issues with them. 3rd photo is the whole thing back together. Also pondered tape vs dope and decided that for this application either would be fine so I just went with tape since that's what the CP folks recommend. Once it was plugged in and grounded the little green light came on so I guess it's working.
I don't expect any performance issues but if I have any I'll circle back and add to the review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!
Verified PurchaseWhat a godsend this was! We had our hot water tank replaced recently, and soon after had issues with sulfur in our water. A friend who was a plumber suggested trying an electric anode to remove the sulfur taste and smell. The very day this product was installed, the sulfur smell and taste disappeared within hours!

Install was straightforward, anyone handy with basic plumbing can do it

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard to install on Bradford- White with power vent.
Verified PurchaseFirst of all- avoid buying a Bradford White water heater. Having the anode rod in the water outlet tube is a pain. So I bought the Corro-Protect device to hopefully not to have to do another rod replacement. fingers crossed.
I have a power vent and it was impossible to get the outlet tube installed without removing the cowling. First try without removing the cowling I had a small leak. I was fortunate to get 3/4 more of the turn on it.
