These third-party joy-cons for Switch 1 are a good solution for their price. (These came for $36.99 CDN, where Nintendo MSRP for official joy-cons is $99.99 CDN).

They look identical to official joy-cons without deep inspection.

They work on chargers and fit properly and lock into the (original) Switch.

My gamer wife reviewed the controls:

Sticks: Aiming, good. Clicking good. Rubber feels "okay," you could put covers on if you don't like. NO DRIFT in the short time we tested them.
Buttons: Face buttons "slightly different" but not a deal breaker.
Triggers: Great. She likes you can hear when they click.
Bumpers (L1, R1) Bad. She finds them mushy, "can't notice (tactile) when I press them)" and "dealbreaker" (they really bother her).

These may not be ideal for a heavy hardcore serious gamer, but that person would likely be using a pro controller or something else besides joy-cons anyway. As replacements for broken joy-cons, or for the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th player at a party game, these are 100% suitable and a good bargain versus official Nintendo joy-cons.

The media could not be loaded.

I'm going to start with the bad. For whatever reason, when I first paired these joycons, the right joystick did not work whenever I moved it left. You can see that in the video.

I put the console in sleep and then back on again twice before it started to work properly. While the joycons are working correctly now, they lose 1 star from me because this now has me doubting if they will continue to work properly in the long run.

Now on to the good stuff I have to say. At first glance, the colours seem the same as the original. The feel of the joycons and how the buttons click also feel the same. I'm very satisfied with this.

My original joycons are drifting like everyone else's. It got to the point where I had to purchase a pro controller to play TOTK because Link was no longer wandering off cliffs. Instead, he was running towards them to suicide. These joycons don't drift at all. I can now play again using joycons if I want. It's nice to have that option again.
