5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Columbo on Blu-ray. It doesn’t get much better with than this.
Verified PurchaseThe downside of this Blu-Ray set is that it’s a North American release on Region A playback only. Fortunately I have a multi region blu-ray player.
Other than that it’s great to have these episodes on blu-ray. The picture quality is fabulous. Takes an initial amount of time to get used to the 4;3 aspect ratio.
I have award 5 stars as I am so pleased to have this set on Blu-ray

5.0 out of 5 stars Solo una cosa más...

5.0 out of 5 stars Columbo Blue Ray looks MUCH better than DVD
Verified PurchaseAs a long-time Columbo fan, I was excited to see it had been released on Blue Ray. Knowing the show was originally shot on film, I knew the BR version would look awesome. It certianly does! Much better pic quality than DVD which I have owned for several years. I highly reccomend to any fan of the show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of the Blu-ray version of the Columbo box set.
Verified PurchaseI have just recieved my copy of this release. I had been planning on getting the Blu-ray box set from Japan, but this version is mastered from a 4K scan. I have just started going over the discs and can confirm the image quality is fantastic, sharpness and detail are outstanding, the richness of the colors are what stand out most.
Audio is properly mixed, none of the issues of modern movies where the music is overblown and the voices barely audible, the voices are center stage, as it should be.
Apparently legal issues arose at the last minute, and all the interviews and special features were removed.
I laughed after I went into the options menu and realized how little in the way of extras are offered.
For people concerned about this, it's not really a problem, and makes the discs better, here is why.
This is box set 1, with a planned second box set in the works with the later eposodes planned for future release.
All the extras and interviews can always be included in the second box set after all the copyright royalty
Issues are settled, and placed on their own discs. There is one big advantage, they limited the number of episodes per disc, and without having to work in hours of interviews on each disc they are able to run the Bitrates for these episodes as very high levels, boosting the image quality, which in the end is more important than the extras.
The only thing I had on my wish list of extras was to have the option of playing the Original Sunday Night Mysteries intro with the music by Henry Mancini, days of wine and roses, but I never expected that to be offered.
