Product description

The Chapin HydroFeed fertilizer injector is a patent-pending design filled with features for use with drip irrigation, sprinkler, soaker hose and direct hose spray applications. Mixes water with liquid, granular and fish emulsion products at the water source. This irrigation system comes with a clear tank for easy monitoring of usage, a large opening with O-ring to prevent leakage, funnel-top mouth for easy filling, built-in mounting bracket for easy set up next to water spigot, rigid inlet tube with in-tank filter for debris-free mixing and drain with valve to quickly empty remaining product and water from the tank. Great way to conserve water and still have a lush, green, well-fed landscape or garden.

The swivel nut that holds the hose to the input side of this thing is A JOKE, the only thing that holds it to the body is expanding tabs held buy the knob itself. Translation, before you ever get enough compression on the washer there, you will never get it to stop leaking. period. At some point as you tighten it disassembles it self. USELESS to me now and not even worth the time it will take to return it, gonna throw it in the garbage and consider it a less learned. This company sells products that do not work. There is no way the input of this thing will not leak, its design to leak period.

    I have the smaller version of this as well. Basically, if you want to fertilize your garden or lawn without standing over it with a hose, you can load up your plant/lawn food (quite easily BTW), connect the sprinkler, and turn on the tap. Then go out and do other things... Totally recommend.

    We had a small problem with the inlet fitting (my fault, I think). I built a a bypass system for my sprinkler system to accommodate a Chapin feeder for fertilizer (Miracle Gro). Alignment for the inlet was tried initially by me, using straight black plastic piping, without using the flexible hose. The inlet coupling came off when the sprinkler system shut down (shock pressure load). Then when I installed the flexible hose it seemed to work fine, but leaked a wee bit. I contacted Chapin, because I was worried about it blowing off again and I was frightened to tighten it up to tight. Honestly, the gentleman I talked to could not have been nicer and more decent! They sent me a new one, because he told me it was more important that his company was giving good customer service, than try to fix the coupling. It has worked great!

    I’ve have this running on my drip system for my garden for two seasons and it has work great. Fill it up with liquid or water soluble fertilizer and it’s ready to go. I have four raised beds and 5-10 pots with adjustable flow heads and I only need to refill about once a week maybe ten days. Granular fertilizer seems to last longer than liquid. It’s easy to drain and refill. I have mine under my elevated deck so it is protected from sunlight. I would recommend protecting it from the sunlight as it’s plastic and it will reduce its lifespan. Also when using granular fertilizer be sure to get it off the Oring before screwing it back on and you don’t have to tighten it down a lot or you will have some trouble getting it back off. Securing the top to something is a good idea too because it makes it way easier to get the bottom off to refill.
