I’ve been using the CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum for a few weeks now, and overall, I’m impressed with how gentle it is—especially for a retinol product.

👍 What I Like: DISCLAIMER EVERYONES SKIN IS DIFFERENT!

Gentle on my skin. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin, and this serum didn’t sting or cause irritation, even when I used it a few nights in a row.

Helps fade post-acne marks. After consistent use, I noticed old acne scars looking a bit lighter and less angry. It's not instant, but it works over time.

Niacinamide is a plus. It seems to calm my skin while helping with texture, and I think it helped reduce redness around old breakouts.

No fragrance. Huge bonus. Doesn’t smell like anything weird, and didn’t clog my pores (non-comedogenic as promised).

Lightweight texture. Absorbs quickly and layers well with moisturizer or other products in my nighttime routine.

👎 What Could Be Better:

Slow results. You definitely have to be patient. This isn’t a magic overnight fix—it took about 3–4 weeks before I noticed real improvement in my skin tone and texture.

Not super hydrating. If your skin is dry, you’ll need to layer a solid moisturizer on top.

Pump design can waste product. The pump dispenses a bit too much sometimes—makes it easy to overuse, especially with a 30ml bottle.

If you’re new to retinol or want a reliable serum that helps with acne marks, uneven tone, and skin texture—without burning your face off—this is a great pick.

I am purging rn so I do have acne we will see how it is!

Unfortunately I do not have several photos to show and explain my experience with this serum. But hopefully the few I do have will help someone. In February, I started using a new facial makeup wipe. Long story short, there was an ingredient in it that I have a sensitivity or allergy to. Specifically, my forehead had a pretty bad rash that was really itchy and irritated. As it started healing after discontinuing the wipes for two months, I was left with red spots all over my face/forehead. Even though to the touch, my skin was completely smooth. So the rash left behind permanent damage and markings on my face. I started using this retinoid serum & within two weeks I noticed the marks were fading. I will include photos that are 6 weeks apart. Using the product only at night, roughly 4-5 days a week. I highly recommend this product. I also suffer from really large pores on my nose. I’m hoping that continuing to use this product will target that area as well so I can get some results in reduction of pores. (The only before photo was actually with some light makeup up, so it was actually worse and the after pic is no make up at all).

Feels like my acne scars fades more quickly when I'm using this product - usually it takes around 1-2 months for them to completely disappear/ become unnoticeable, but now it only takes around 2 weeks or so. However, so far I don't feel a difference regarding my pores.

I apply this after I apply moisturizer (and after it's dried) at night, and maybe 4-5 times a week.

It also doesn't irritate my skin even though I have sensitive skin. I believe it's due to the low concentration of retinol in this product.
Folks who don't have sensitive skin and want to experience the retinol wonder - you could try out the purple bottled one from Cerave. It should have stronger effects than this one, but I don't want to risk irritating my skin so I'm trying out with this milder product.

Overall, I think it's worth the price as long as you don't expect it to magically cure your skin problems.

I've been big into skin care for a while. I have a process for skin care. I'm all into full skin care. Micellar water, face wash, toner, face serum, eyeserum and moisturize at the end.

I was skeptical of buying this, as I do have quite sensitive skin, and I've been trying to avoid retinol as i thought it would be too harsh, but I was wrong! For this product at least. It doesn't irritate my skin much at all, and then afterwards I use the cera ve moisturizer with spf and it works beautifully together. I'm obsessed. Definitely recommend.
