Directions

Cleanse skin before applying the product; apply a small amount to a small area for 3 days; if no discomfort occurs, cover the affected area with a thin layer; start with once-daily application, gradually increasing to 2 or 3 times daily.

Product description

The CeraVe Acne Control Gel is a full-face acne treatment with 2% salicylic acid that helps clear acne pimples and prevent new acne breakouts from developing. Alongside BHA’s (salicylic acid), the acne gel also includes niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and a blend of AHA’s (glycolic acid and lactic acid) that work together to help clear acne pimples and prevent new acne breakouts from forming, helping target acne pimples more effectively and minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores. This acne gel is oil-free and formulated without drying alcohol, helping it provide gentle exfoliation without stripping and drying the skin or compromising the skin barrier. Like other CeraVe products, the acne gel is formulated with 3 essential ceramides (1, 3, 6-II) which help the product restore and maintain the skin’s natural barrier while fighting acne. The acne gel is enriched with niacinamide which helps calm the skin, and hyaluronic acid which helps hydrate and further restore and protect the skin barrier.

  • Salicylic acid helps exfoliate the skin by loosening the “glue” that holds skin cells together. This supports the natural shedding of dead cells, which helps slough away dull or rough skin to reveal a fresh and healthy-looking complexion.

  • Every skincare regimen should include daily sun protection. However, salicylic acid’s exfoliating effects can leave the skin more vulnerable to UV rays, so taking extra sun protection measures is recommended.

  • All three have exfoliating properties. Because salicylic acid (BHA) is “lipid-soluble”—unlike glycolic and lactic acid (BHA) —it is able to penetrate clogged pores, which is especially beneficial for those with oily skin.

    It works well, but is VERY drying. I recommend using every other or every third day at first. Get a really good oil free, noncomedogenic moisturizer to go with it. Also, you MUST gently exfoliate with a clean washcloth each time you wash your face, or it is flake central (which means it’s working the way it’s supposed to). Even for VERY oily skin, it is very drying. However, it means it will last twice as long, especially since you only need a very small amount.
