I love getting specialty salts from the health food store - larger grained, pink, grey, I’ve tried quite a few. They are tasty and include different trace minerals in my diet for health and well-being. It’s a huge bag! It’s not very coarse it’s rather fine. Won’t need milling. I like the taste of it. Look forward to cooking with it! Will last quite a while at this size.

In terms of price it costs 60$ for 5lb. 12$/lb or 2.64$/100g. It seems expensive because it’s a large amount, but a quick search just on �鶹�� shows that most other brands cost even more than that, ranging from 9$/100g to 4-5$/100g. This same company sells a smaller bag of 1/4 lb that costs 14.15$/100g that has great reviews. You actually get a deal for buying a larger amount.

Pretty strong words, I realize, but hear me out and do some research of your own, too...

First and foremost, this is just SALT, so:

- The price is, quite frankly, insane. Seems like salt prices are kinda out of wack across �鶹�� at the moment (in my personal opinion), but I also feel like prior to writing this review, the price was even higher...
and
- The health claims are dubious at *BEST,* downright harmful at *WORST.*

Let's talk this through: why does sea salt cost this much? Because it's from the Celtic Sea? So what? Oh, because it's supposed to be "better for you" than other salt? In what meaningful way? The advertising material says it has 10x more magnesium, 100x more potassium, and 40x more calcium than "regular table salt." ...How much of each does regular table salt have?

A quick google search shows 20mg of your daily calcium, 10mg of your daily potassium, and 0mg of your daily magnesium in ***100g of salt!*** That's 38758mg of sodium or 1685% of your daily! A single "dash" of salt is recorded as having ZERO PERCENT of all of these!

100g of salt a day's going to kill you sooner rather than later, and 10, 40, or 100x zero is still zero...

Also, who in the heck is trying to get minerals from SALT!? Eating a piece of fruit would have a bajillion times more, I bet! Just stick to real food! Come on now! No self-respecting doctor is *actually* going to recommend you use SALT as a way to make up for missing minerals...

The rest of the health claims are ridiculous. If you want to promote hydration, drink some water. The large amount of sodium in SALT isn't going to turn your glass of water into a sports drink. Odds are incredibly high you don't actually need to -- on a clinical level -- increase your hydration.

Doctors normally want you to cut back on your salt anyhow, and this is just fine ground salt, it isn't large flake or something extra fancy that would justify this ridiculous price.

I tried tasting it on the tip of my finger and I didn't like the taste at all, but once I figured maybe my finger wasn't as squeaky-clean as I thought it was, I tried a clean spoon and dropped a tiny bit on my tongue to taste it instead. The odd taste wasn't as pronounced -- maybe it disappeared altogether -- but that just meant it was salt... I didn't taste any huge difference, like I'd expect from freaking SALT!

Please, please, please talk to your doctor about this kind of thing if this advertising appeals to you. Do some research. Don't try to self-medicate with salt.

2/5 is the best I can do given what I feel are really scummy practices and a final product that can't justify the price at all.

I ordered it because I prefer taste of sea salt and despise white table salt. Anything else this offers is just bonus.

This is a "fine" salt as far as Celtic Salt goes. Similar to sand. Gray Celtic salt is lightly moist. Also like sand! It has a robust salty flavor that is bright yet smooth. Has flavor. I also like Himalayan pink salt and Redmond real salt. I also use course gray Celtic sea salt, so this isnt my first time trying it by far. Because Celtic salt (to me) has a greater punch of salty flavor, I usually use this as a finishing salt. I never ever use white salt. Big difference in flavor (to me). I will choose Celtic salt every time (or the others mentioned) every single time.

Now the page mentions all sorts of health benefits. I dont buy salt for so called health benefits. This isnt priced higher because of the claims. This size bag makes it quite cheap per ounce. Salt doesnt go bad. I'm a prepper so this appealed to me.

I do use Celtic salt for hydration. Drinking water alone does not necessarily hydrate, especially if I am drinking a lot of water. So I either add a little to my water, or add a couple of grains directly to my mouth (again, has a good taste that white salt can not achieve). As with a lot of foods and herbs and such, they all provide nutrition, but doesnt mean you will get it all from that particular food (the amount needed would not be realistic), but everything can work synergistically to reach adequate levels. So no, I am not getting ALL my nutrients from salt. But nice to choose a salt (ie any sort of natural sea salt) that offers something even if in trace amounts. I mean who doesnt grab for the salt shaker? Mind as well grab something that offers SOMETHING. I despise white table salt. But no, I' not consuming more of it. Salt is still high in sodium after all. Anyway, I digress..

Overall, this salt is good, is of color, taste and texture as expected. I dont rate on price, but I comment. Cheapest is with a Subscribe and Save ($0.64 per ounce), but still good price at full price tag ($0.75 per ounce).

I just had my friends over for crafts. One friend cooked and I decided to bring out this “French Grey Fine From the Celtic Sea” salt to see what everyone thought.

My thoughts: A little goes a long way. This is very strong. Also, it looks like straight up sand so I was expecting a gritty texture, but it’s not there. It melts in your mouth – so no sandy texture.

I also asked my friends what they thought and got these responses:

• “It tastes like the sea but in the best way possible.”
• “I was going to make a Sodium joke, but NA.”

So there’s that.

Considering it is so strong, this 5lb bag is going to go a long way! A very long way. However, I’ve got plenty of pantry space and salt never expires so I’m fine with that. One day, a decade or so from now I will run out and have to return to regular salt and be very upset, I’m sure. Honestly, when you consider how much you’re getting for the price, it’s not bad. This is a luxury salt. If you bought it in a smaller amount in a nice bottle, it would cost five or ten times as much per ounce.

Seems to be a decent grain, fairly chunky but also not so chunky that it’s like rock salt/rock sugar. Works great for curing seafood so I’m assuming it’d be great for curing anything.

I’m not really a salt aficionado so can’t really be the judge otherwise. Value wise this seems decent, it’s pretty close to what you get from Whole Foods so not bad.

I’d say it’s decent enough. Would I get it again from �鶹��? Idk maybe?

My girlfriend had this to say: This is a really lovely eating salt. It tastes great - has a pretty high salinity level, but once you get used to it, it is just lovely to use. We keep a small bowl of it on the counter for quick pinches. Love it on salads, soups and pretty much anything. It is the perfect "finishing salt" - sprinkles beautifully and has a great flaky structure. I love that the product has a high mineral content - it is great to know we are replenishing much-needed minerals while we enjoy this lovely salt.
