Product description

An F.B.I. Agent persuades a social worker, who is adept with a new experimental technology, to enter the mind of a comatose serial killer

Sublime, grotesque and visually ravishing, Tarsem Singh's debut feature delivers on the extraordinary artistry of his work in music video and commercials as it takes the audience on a journey through the bizarre worlds inside the mind of a killer.

When serial murderer Carl Stargher (Vincent D'Onofrio) falls into a coma with his latest victim still trapped in an unknown location and waiting to die, the FBI turn to psychologist Catherine Deane (Jennifer Lopez) for help. Using an experimental technology she enters the dark dreamscape of Stargher's mind, attempting to learn his secrets before it's too late. But his unconscious is a twisted nightmare, a labyrinth that threatens to trap her inside his terrifying world forever. To save a life, she'll have to risk her own.

With a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend), and a supporting cast that includes Vince Vaughn (Brawl in Cell Block 99) and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (In Fabric), The Cell is a gripping, edge-of-the-seat thriller, filled with jaw-dropping imagery that will entrance and unsettle in equal measure.

No Escaping THE CELL!
5 out of 5 stars
No Escaping THE CELL!
Classic thriller boasts eye-popping visuals (and I'm not just talking about Lopez, here!), and a genuinely creepy villain in Vincent D'Onofrio. Arguably the most visually opulent horror film since Coppola made Bram Stoker's Dracula, THE CELL arrives on blu-ray jam-packed with extras detailing every aspect of the production, and this highly original shocker is a sure bet for inclusion in any horror fan's library.

For as much as this is a bit twisted and something I never thought J Lo would do, it was a really good movie. There was action or suspense at almost everypoint in the movie. JLo is seen asthe frightened innocent young therapist, vulnerable and controlled. Thern she is the beautiful queen all kind and loving , and then, she kicks ass as the tough guy protector. Love love love the movie. Freaky and all.

I mainly did this review just to add a photo of the back cover of the new Arrow Video, Limited Edition, Collector¡¯s Edition of this movie, The Cell. Currently there is only the front cover shown on this Â鶹Çø page for it. Also all of the special features (of which there are many awesome ones in my opinion) are also currently not listed in the description. So, I just wanted to share this with everyone interested in buying this version so that they can see all that it has to offer.

I have to say that I was thrilled to see that there are 2 and possibly 3 different cuts of this movie in this release. I say 3 because in the one section it mentions the 107 minute Theatrical Cut and the 109 minute Director¡¯s Cut. But, if you look at the bottom - Disc 2 - section it also mentions a ¡°Previously unseen Theatrical Cut of the film¡¡±. To me that at least, that sounds like a 3rd cut. So you¡¯re getting 2 different Theatrical Cuts along with the longer Director¡¯s Cut.

Which, that is just awesome in my opinion. The Cell has long been one of my most favorite movies ever made. I cannot think of anything else like it out there. I had no idea there was a Director¡¯s Cut let alone a second Theatrical Cut. To say I¡¯m ecstatic is an understatement.

Like I said, this film feels like nothing else I¡¯ve ever seen in my life and I¡¯ve seen an unbelievable amount of movies in my lifetime. The majority of the jobs I held growing up were working in movie theaters and video rental stores. I even moved on to actually working on Hollywood movies. So, I¡¯ve seen more movies than any brain should have to contend with, haha. The Cell is part crime, part psychological-thriller, part horror and part just something else entirely on its own I believe. The grotesque and incredibly surreal nature of some parts of the movie are what instantly made me obsessed with the film. Well, not the grotesque so much as the just incredibly surreal nature of some spots in the movie. The astounding production design and visuals that director, Tarsem Singh, creates for this movie are something I don¡¯t think you¡¯ll easily forget, ever. This was his feature debut as a film director and he had previously made some pretty awesome music videos for music artists. I think that¡¯s why the visuals and production design of some of the scenes are unique, unlike anything you¡¯ve probably ever seen before. I know I hadn¡¯t quite seen anything like The Cell before I saw it and have rewatched it countless times and since then either.

Yet, even besides how it looks I think it wouldn¡¯t be as memorable a movie if it was not for the wonderful script and acting by Jennifer Lopez, Vince Vaughn and a truly insane and awesome performance by Vincent D¡¯Onofrio. I had always loved pretty much anything I had seen the latter actor in. Here, though, it just cemented my love and appreciation for him. If the Oscar¡¯s were worth anything anymore and not about politics I really believe he should have won an Oscar for this movie at the time it would have been a contender for it.

Anyways, I¡¯m so excited to see this new release of one of my all-time favorite movies that I bought the Blu-ray and also the 4K version. I hope adding the back cover of the movie here helps out anyone who wanted to see everything this release offered. I was surprised that Â鶹Çø didn¡¯t show this back cover at the time of me writing this review. Nor does the description currently list everything that is included. Thanks for reading my review :D.
