Product description
鶹.ca Product Description
Casio's corporate creed is "creativity and contribution." It expresses the company's commitment to contributing to society by offering the kind of original, useful products that only Casio can. Products with innovative functions assist people in their daily lives and keep society moving forward. They also bring joy to people and help to create new culture. When even a single new product is widely adopted, whole new markets develop, and this in turn fosters growth in related industries. This is the story of Casio's contribution to society-innovative products enhancing people's lives. Inspiration finally came to the engineer, who had never given up experimenting, on a day off just before the development deadline. After going out to lunch feeling low, he was watching some children playing with a rubber ball in the park next to the research and development center when the idea of the module floating in the space inside the ball suddenly came to him. In order to realize this concept, he came up with a hollow structure in which the module is supported at just a few points with a slight space around it.

- Reviewed in Canada on September 26, 2021Verified PurchaseLet me start with this. There is one thing I would improve on this watch. Watch strap! It is nice and somewhat comfortable, my wrist is in the middle of two links where I can not find the perfect fit. It's either too loose or too tight. Aside from that, this watch is perfect. I already dropped it from 3 feet to ceramic tile. Not even a scratch on it. Unlike g shock, I don't see any shock resist material but it sure handled it like nothing happened. Tough solar only took half a day on the window ledge too become High from medium battery level. Time is atomic perfect accurate. Backlight is amazingly bright. Watch face is ready to read. I added tempered glass watch face protector. Even though unidirectional bezel would've been better, bidirectional bezel is solid and won't turn unless you wanted it to. I work in marine environment and water, mud, and sun are three primary daily conditioning I have to deal with. Although it's not g shock mudman/mudmaster, it is excellent in water and occasional mud condition. Simply dip it in the clean water and shake it in there for couple minutes and all is clean. Buttons are big and robust even though it's not made with metal. Hard plastic is sufficient enough to handle some bumps and rare hard hits. Sensor is exposed plastic and not rubber protected like g shock, but it hasn't been damaged nor broken off and works great. I could've gotten the negative display model with anodized black bezel but I decided to go with this model because positive watch face is much easier to read when in a boat or near water /marine environment. As per my very first complaint about the strap, the watch strap needs some improvement. However other than that one minor complaint, I wholeheartedly recommend this watch. This recommendation is coming from G shock affectionate (also eco drive drive watch owner).
- Reviewed in Canada on June 7, 2016Verified PurchaseIf you want a dead-on serious exploration watch this is the one for you. I found the Casio Pro Trek watches to be excellent. I like how the buttons work, and the way they are placed. The bezel moves in both directions. I was reading some specs were indicating one direction only, as like with a diving watch. This is not a diving watch.
The accuracy for the altitude for something you can wear on your wrist is impressive. Most of these watches the altitude is in 5 meter increments. On this one it is in 1 meter increments which is interesting. The compass and the barometer are also very accurate. I verified the accuracy against known calibrated references. Remember the altitude reading works by atmospheric pressure. The reference can change often. Over time barometric pressure is changing.
Time keeping is in the range of 5 to 8 seconds per month as like most of the watches in this price range. The published specs for most of these watches is 15 seconds. I set up this watch to work in metric. It can be set up to work in either the metric or the imperial system.
The barometric pressure is an interesting feature. With some basic weather knowledge you an use this reading to have an idea if a storm is moving in, or if the weather will be clearing. The watch also etches out a pressure graph showing the last ten hours if I remember right. If you are changing altitude often this graph reading will be effected.
A fun thing to do with a watch like this, to first set the altitude to the reference you are located at ground level. Now go in to a very high building and take the elevator to the top. Make sure the watch is in the altitude mode. You will see it counting up the altitude distance as the elevator is taking you up. You will effectively be able to see the height of where you are. You can also reference the barometric pressure before you go up, and then see the difference at the top of the building.
The one thing that worries me with this watch, is if the user is rough on the watch the metal bezel may be easily marked. It is a very nicely finished metal bezel for the compass readings. The finish is a sort of mat finish which makes it easier to read under bright conditions. I have a Pro Trek type G-Shock watch with a rubber finish. This one has no bezel. The rubber they use would be very difficult to damage.
For someone who likes a very good exploration watch I strongly recommend this one. The dealer service was terrific.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 4, 2019Verified PurchaseGreat Watch, accurate on all functions. Durable and stylish.
Make sure to buy some screen protectors if you are doing anything besides sitting at a desk pushing a pencil all day and want to know the elevation your office chair can go up or down. Or to keep an eye on the temp in your cubicle compared to the temp at the water cooler.
- Reviewed in Canada on September 4, 2017Verified PurchaseFantastic watch.
All of its functions work properly, it is easy to set up, the large face is easy to read, it is comfortable, and looks extremely cool. Despite its fairly hefty size, it is quite light, and doesn't catch on sleeves or bump into things. The button for the light is in a handy location, which wasn't case with another Casio Pathfinder I own.
The only negative, and this is a bit nitpicky, is that the alarm could be a little louder.
I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly the watch that I wanted. Very quick delivery too
Verified PurchaseExactly the watch that I wanted with the 20bar depth, good looks and solar powered. Basically, the same as the other Protreks north of $600 or even north of $1000. Very quick delivery too

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick prompt delivery and a quality product
Verified PurchaseGreat quick prompt delivery and such a quality product. Love the watch. Used it on a few occasions whilst out hiking on a couple of over night treks. Calibration is easy and pretty accurate within a couple of meters. Compass works very well and helped on a couple of occasions when we went off trail. I had a compass just as a back up but never had to use it. I'd definitely recommend the watch and the seller.
