    The real point of Casio's G-Shock line is that they're very tough watches -- you can knock them around and they'll still work.

    I've owned one G-Shock before, and the only problem I had with it was the strap. Resin straps have a habit of breaking due to constant flexing whenever the watch is put on. The watch strap on this model is a double-thick nylon, which is definitely more durable than the resin.

    Apart from that it's essentially what I'd call "extended basic" in function: you get time, date, alarm, stopwatch and timer functions, along with a perfectly legible backlight function. You can certainly get more stylish and more functional watches for less money, but if you do a lot of heavy labor, it's this watch's toughness that makes it worth the price.

    UPDATE (17 Nov 2021): The battery is still going without being changed, which is impressive. The nylon hasn't frayed, especially around the buckle holes, which is also astonishing.
    The one real drawback are the side buttons. They're certainly a step up from the fingernail pushers of the standard 5600 and 6900 models, but they've got guards which do interfere a bit with pushing them.
    Would I still recommend this? Yes, but mainly for wear in situations where there's going to be a lot of knocking about. The low price means you shouldn't care about banging and scratching this up; not only can this absorb a lot of punishment but if you *do* damage it irreparably, it's easy enough to replace.

    Absolutely love the watch. I have always hated rubber/plastic straps on watches and have usually opted for steel/metal. I love the canvas strap on this watch. I have fairly large wrists and at first i found that one setting was just a bit to loose and one was just a bit to tight. After it got a bit wet it gave just the perfect amount of stretch to comfortably fit my wrist. The light to illuminate the time works well and is clearly visible at night. I have absolutely 0 issues or negative things to say about this watch. It is now my daily one to wear.
