I had a watch similar to this as a little kid, and have always felt the look of these is timeless so the nostalgia factor is definitely there for me. I've been staring at this sexy thing all day long. I wanted something mostly metal, affordable and water resistant.
PROS:
+ Overall very slick design - simple, classy, not oversized.
+ Affordable - good bang for buck if you want an older style watch, mostly metal construction for $25.00 feels very fair.
+ Clasp design is simple enough to operate, mine requires considerable force to unlock and snaps shut easily (some others claim to have issues though, ymmv).
+ Adjustment is stupid simple just like any digital watch from this period
+ Readability sufficient so far in most lighting conditions (see cons/other).
+ While I havent tested the extreme end of the claimed water resistance, I did do a sink full of dishes and let both hot and cold water run over it a handful of times. No issues, wiped it off and it's fine.
+ This particular model appears all-metal, no pseudoplastic wristband, no plastic or resin shell as far as I can tell. Stainless metal housing and band, something I appreciate
+ Timer function works fine, although I haven't tested it thoroughly. I used it to time a few sets planks just to see how it performed.
CONS/OTHER:
- As some have pointed out, the backlight emits from only one side. This hasn't posed a problem for me in my tests, but ymmv. It's not a very bright light at all but I expected this going in
- Being a hairy guy, I do find the wristband snags my hairs now and then. No big deal, but it's irritating. I guess it's more a me problem.
- Men with especially large wrists may want to check specs and look into other watches, be warned. My wrists are extremely skinny and I've only got another 1-1.5" worth of adjustment left...
Overall it's a great little blast from the past, I don't regret the purchase. For me it's *almost* the perfect watch, the design just needs a few tweaks in my opinion but I'm satisfied. I'll update this if something changes.
