ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

In Agatha Christie’s classic mystery,Cards on the Table, the wily Hercule Poirot is on the case when a bridge night turns deadly.

Mr. Shaitana is famous as a flamboyant party host. Nevertheless, he is a man of whom everybody is a little afraid. So when he boasts to Hercule Poirot that he considers murder an art form, the detective has some reservations about accepting a party invitation to view Shaitana’s “private collection.”

Indeed, what begins as an absorbing evening of bridge is to turn into a more dangerous game altogether.…

Product description

About the Author

Born in Torquay in 1891, Agatha Christie received a typical Victorian education from governesses in her father's home. After her father's death, she moved to Paris, where she studied piano and singing. She married in 1914 and had a daughter, but their marriage ended in divorce in 1928. Two years later, during a trip to the Middle East, she met archaeologist Max Mallowan, whom she married that same year; thereafter, she spent several months a year in Syria and Iraq, the scene ofCome and tell me how you live (Andanzas 50, now also in the Fábula collection) and some of his detective novels, such as Murder in Mesopotamia or Intrigue in Baghdad. In addition to the great success enjoyed by her famous novels, from 1953 onwards she gained fame with the theatrical adaptations of her novels in London's West End. In 1971 she was awarded the distinction of Dame of the British Empire. She died in 1976.

Born in Torquay in 1890, Agatha Christie began writing during the First World War and wrote over 100 novels, plays and short story collections. She was still writing to great acclaim until her death, and her books have now sold over a billion copies in English and another billion in over 100 foreign languages. Yet Agatha Christie was always a very private person, and though Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple became household names, the Queen of Crime was a complete enigma to all but her closest friends.

3.0 out of 5 stars ES BASTANTE BUENO. TRADUCCIÓN PLAGADA DE ANGLICISMOS, POR DESGRACIA
Reviewed in Spain on August 3, 2024

¿A qué vienen esos "miss", "mister", etcétera?
