Convenient all in one set!

- Reviewed in Canada on May 13, 2025These utensils came together as a complete set which is very convenient. It came with 1 spoon, 1 teaspoon, 1 knife, and 1 fork. The utensils are unique because both spoons and the fork can be bent left or right depending on the users specific needs. The twisted metal neck of the utensils allows them to be bent left or right, and then readjusted if needed for a different user.
I was impressed by the handle of these utensils; they’re made thicker than typical utensils which makes them much easier to grasp and hold for people who have difficulties with their hands, strength or grip. Additionally, they seem to have silicone built into the handles which gives them a nice non-slip quality. The handles also feature a hole at the end that would be great for hanging them to dry or for storage. These are larger than typical utensils, so they won’t fit the same in a utensil tray.
I was concerned a bit about the connection between the plastic handle and metal parts, but there is no movement between them. Even bending them into your desired position takes a bit of strength to do. I cannot verify how these hold up long term, and I’ll try and come back to update my review, but right now they hold their position you bend them to, they don't become wobbly or unstable, and they are able to hold food and cut through food as they should. Some other pros that make these ideal are that they are dishwasher safe and their bright red colour makes them very visible for people with low vision.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 21, 2025The adaptive Utensils (ASIN B0DKQY6XW3) from Carex can help some folks restore a little of their lost independence.
Picked these up for my elderly father. At this stage in life, he finds it difficult to grasp/use normal sized cutlery due to arthritis and tremors. These help make things a little easier for him. While they certainly won't turn back time, and are likely not a solution for someone with severe to extreme issues, they do make mealtime easier for those that can use them. For those wondering why the metal is twisted... it is to allow you to twist/bend/change the angle to meet your needs. That said, the metal is much softer than normal utensils, as such, too much manual twisting/adjusting over time will likely break them. These would also likely benefit from handwashing instead of machine. Overall, they have improved my father's mealtime experience, so in saying that, I have no issue recommending these.
I hope you find the above information helpful to your decision making.

- Reviewed in Canada on May 21, 2025These are a helping hand! Although they are a bit heavy, for my liking, but if that's not an issue when taking any disabilities into account, these are great. The large handles mean easy to hold, the ability to bend to ease joint bends or positional intolerance is awesome to have (could see the bend being helpful for someone in a cast, but that's just something that occurred to me when using for other reasons). Actually wish I had thought of these sooner, just wish they were slightly lighter. For my issue, when I am flared-up and need to use these, anything I lift feels much heavier and can reduce time for tolerance before having to switch hands. That might not be an issue if it's more for a palsy or grip issue solely. Does what they're advertised to do, and should be more widely available, as I would have started using them a long time ago, if I had known they existed before now. 4.5 stars.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 6, 2025The Carex Adaptive Utensils provide a helpful grip for individuals with tremors or arthritis, making mealtime more manageable. While the weighted design offers some stability, it could be better balanced for improved control. The handles are comfortable, but the overall durability may not meet long-term expectations. A decent choice for assisted dining, though a few refinements would enhance usability.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 11, 2025These weighted utensils are absolutely great and are a game changer for my elderly mother!
She doesn't have shakes or anything like that, but she does have a hard time when it comes to gripping things, so the larger an easy to grip handle is helpful.
She has had less issues when it comes to eating with these utensils compared to typical ones. These are a great addition, though they don't fit in the drawer with the other utensils.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 12, 2025I guess I was expecting a heavy weighted set of utensils, making it easier to eat if one has tremors, but that is not exactly what these do. They are a bit heavier than your average spoon or fork, but where these differ is in the twisted metal between the handlle and utensil end. What this does is allow the user to bend the stem up, down,, left or right, to put it in a position so when one brings food to their mouth, they do not have to move their hands. A great thing when eating cereal. You get less milk spilled on your pants with the sponn's handle is already bent in the food intake position. Why 3 stars. The bendable metal seems thin, so I'm not sure how long they will last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful
Good set of eating utensils for those who require a little bit of assistance, but want to remain independent. The wide grip is helpful when my finger joints are swollen due to Lyme disease. At my worst I could not clench a fist and for awhile I could barely touch a finger to my thumb. Thankfully, the worst has passed. I don't need the utensils now, but is nice to have just in case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Performed as expected
Senior and small hand friendly. Minus the knife, kid friendly. Easy to grip large handles. I love that they are capable of bending into many angles. I like that their short to lessen chances for mouth injuries. Fun color. Quality make. Good value for the asking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes Eating Easier
These adaptive utensils have made a significant difference in their eating experience. The built-up handles are comfortable to grip, especially for those with arthritis or Parkinson's. The silverware is durable and easy to clean. Overall, a great investment for anyone looking to make mealtime more manageable.

4.0 out of 5 stars good value
very easy to hold and very flexible. The metal twisted like this makes them very easy to bend accordingly. I would tend to not bend them back and forth too much as i'm not sure how long that would last. Rubberized handles are easy to hold and feel good in a grip.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just okay.
Got these for my sister who has a medical condition which causes uncontrollable shaking. They don't work as well as I would have liked but do seem to be slightly more helpful than traditional table wear.
