I'm not a road warrior anymore that's long since gone but there are times when I'm doing consulting and I'm sitting at a customer's location and instead of working off the console twisted to the right I just slide my chair back and throw my tablet or laptop on this and takes about 2 seconds works really really well.
Some steering wheels now it doesn't fit because they are a thicker material but on the typical North American built units this works no problem.
It's not expensive material in fact it's really quite thin and inexpensive but it holds the laptop and the down pressure that you might apply just typing away or you drink or your meal I guess if you want to eat in your vehicle.
